Babysitter was....our babysitter cat...he would sit with the kittens as their mom went to eat or get away for a while...he would lay wiht them...play with them...and keep other cats away from them....often fighting to bear blood....
He was also a grey kitten that a number of years ago, we found frozen to death after a snowstorm and we could not bury him, so we took his body back to rest by the creek...the following spring we found him up a tree...he somehow managed to come back and get back to the house and had been here ever since....
This morning I went to get Myst at the vet...he spent 2 days there on antibiotics and fluids for a URI that took him down hard and fast...and take the kitten that sleeps with Myst in for URI and flea treatment (I had tried everything so this was a last resort)...
When I got back with those two, Babysitter was sitting on the front porch with his mouth hanging open and blood from his nose and mouth...he looked a bit battered...I think he got hit by a car
Got him in the carrier and rushed him to the vet...he was having difficulty breathing by now...thankfully he was on the front steps for me to see him right away!!....I had to leave to get to work so I would not be late, but I left him and said to do whatever they can....
They called a while later...his teeth were broken and his jaw was broken in multiple places...they said surgery and pinning/wiring might be successful but he would always have trouble eating and they were not sure if they could get his upper and lower jaws to line back up again...So I told them to let him go...and I could not be there to hold him
