UPDATE...my little girl is much better today. I think she is out of

the woods finally. I understand this is never cured but manageable.

She wanted to chase a squirrel and dig it out this morning. Hooray!

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and concerns.
Hugs for everyone, and prayers for those who want them.

Mou, I am SOOOOOOO relieved to hear this, she has been in my thoughts and prayers.

There are so many cases like this, they are almost always idiopathic, and it is so frustrating not knowing in order to hope to prevent it again. Sometimes it reoccurs, so please followup with your vet and get her bloodwork checked regularly, or sooner if you feel something is amiss.

You are such a great mom, I'm sure your devotion and care had alot to do with pulling her through!!

One of the emergency vets called me last thursday and gave

me H*** "because her file is an inch thick, and she is critically

ill, and should be PTS". I was just devastated because no one

else had said that, and she was not one of the vets I had seen

with the dog. She may have seen the dog while she was at

the clinic, however. I called my regular vet at home sobbing

and asking if I was being cruel as she had said. (It was 10:30pm).

He was VERY angry at her, and since he is on the board of

directors and was one of the founding vet of the emergency clinic,

I think she was let go. I think they have had trouble with her

before. I did not ask that she be let go, but he was very angry.

What an awful thing to do. She obviously is oblivious to how much animals can be loved and as a vet, she certainly should know that some conditions and illnesses are completely curable, and if not curable, managable with medication. Would she say the same thing to someone who had a diabetic dog or a dog with seizures? Both conditions are bad but totally managable with medication most of the time. I certainly hope she received a severe talking to if she wasn't fired.

Right, Karen - I was writing essentially the same thing when my 'puter glitzed. Me, I hope this insensitive, judgmental person was "let go" - IMO she is something of a hypocrite too. One would think an ER vet especially sees enough truly unavoidable sorrow...

Mou, she was obviously clueless.

I've known you for a very very long time, of all the people I know, YOU are above all, one of those devoted owners who is the FIRST to recognize when suffering is involved and when it would or would not be the time to consider letting go of a pet.

How dare she. How dare she make my good friend cry. I support you, and you are one of the most compassionate, level-headed, wise and intelligent people I know. Don't let her words get to you. You and I both know better!!

You've taken such great care of your baby girl and ALL your pets, from horses to cows to cats and dogs (and some in between!), remember that, for that is the important thing.

Thank you for the support, all of you. I wonder what she thinks
now that the little girl is doing so well. I know that all the rest
of the staff knows what she did, although they never come right
out and say they do. I have never gone back and they keep
calling and asking how she is and "how I am". I will keep you up
to date on if she is gone or not. I don't care one way or the other,
but I will bet she never does that to another client while on staff
there.
