Litter Box Problem or emotional issue?
Litter Box Problem or emotional issue?
I have read many of the post below about cats pooping outside their litter box, but I wasn't sure where my fit in. I have a beautiful and very affectionate Himalayan. He is always striving for attention. When I have to work late (which seems fairly often these days) he likes to poop on the couch. But what is strange is he waits until I get home and go to sleep before he does it. AND he will do a little in the litter box just to drive me nuts. If I leave all the cushions on the couch, he can't do it, but as soon as I forget to set up the cushions there he goes again. I feel like it is some type of anxiety issue but I’m not sure how to deal with it. Should I just deal with the litter box issue or the emotional stuff?

Re: Litter Box Problem or emotional issue?
He is about 5 years old, and his last checkup was last week. The Vet said he was is pretty good shape (maybe a little overweight) but that everything else is fine. He suggested a specific medicine, which I don't remember the name of, that I would give to him orally everyday. I was really hoping for a shot that could last for longer, but he said nothing existed that could do that. They are mixing up the formula for me, but I would hate to feel like the only way to keep Sinatra (his name BTW) from doing this would be to give him this medicine everyday for the rest of his life. It can't be overly good for him and what happens if I miss a day?

If your cat needed insulin shots every day, twice a day, you would not refuse to do it........would you??
If there is treatment, and if the treatment works, then it is your responsiblity to give it to him.
