Hi guys. I'm new to this forum so forgive me if I'm not posting in the correct order or place :) But I thought I'd jump in here with a suggestion. I recently found sisal rugs at our local Pottery Barn. My Siamese cat and Himalayan kitten love them. I have 2, 2x4 size. I keep one at my front door, the other in my kitchen. That one is used quite often at dinner time :) A larger 2x6 that is kept by the patio door. They're trimmed in a canvas material, so they go well with my furniture and are durable. I found them all on clearance prices at $11.00 and $19.00. Since buying these I've had no problems with them attacking the arms on the new couch I just bought :)
There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life, music and cats.

Welcome, Leahcar!

I love the idea for sisal rugs and have often thought about trying them. Do the kitties scratch them to the point they leave pile/sisal loose all over?

the greatest thing i ever bought was a big piece of particle board. it is big and cheap and rough and the cats love it! if you dont want something big and ugly like this in your house (I keep mine on the back porch where the cats hang out). They never bother my furniture. But the the greatest thing is Soft Paws. a friend of mine bought them and uses them and she loves them. http://www.softclaws.com/
I live in brazil or I would use them too....(not available here)
DO NOT DECLAW! IT IS CRUEL AND UNUSUAL!
cheers and good luck with your kitty....
Nancy
