2010 kittens

Post by Tambrey »

Well...here is the first batch born on our front porch a number of weeks ago....there were originally 4....but we have only seen 3 for about 4 weeks now...I would venture to say they are about 8-9 weeks old?

Flower...She looks like a little skunk!!
Image

Stubby..can you tell why her name is stubby? Her tail has been like that from the first day we ever saw them....no sign of injury...just a stubby tail!
Image

Shyster...this is the shy one that tries to bite when you pick her up...the little hissy oh so scary one

And here is the batch born on Mother's Day....outside....on the grass....I have since moved them aside...put a box nad protection over it where they were...and then put them inside the box...Stripe, the mom, has been fine with that and will let me touch them....I have yet to touch HER....but she will lay under a nearby truck and watch me with her babies....

Some eyes are all the way open....some have 1 eye open...some are still working on it...some seem to have a gunk in their eyes...especially the one in the first pic...sometimes it is there...sometimes not...so I am keeping watch right now to see if it clears as eyes open more...

And they are all starting to get vocal and hissy when I pick them up...so cute...LOL

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh... they're so adorable! I wish I had any good reason to breed cats... I adore tiny little kittens and watching them grow up.

thanks...I wish I could afford to just get them ALL fixed right now and NOT have more kittens...but they are cute to watch when they discover blades of grass or a bug on the sidewalk... :)

Oh they are so cute, their colors are so cool!

Please watch their eyes and noses, the first kitten's pic does not look good, at all.

It would probably be worth your while if you could try to TNR when you are able to afford it, never lose sight of the fact that all those kittens will go on to have many many many many many more kittens. I know you're doing your best, I know it's hard.

They are so cute. I hope you're able to help them all. Obviously, Stripe trusts you with her babies - that's a big plus. Hard work, for sure. Good luck!

JUst an update...

Flower, Stubby and Shyster are all doing great....growing and playing with the other cats...Mom does not nurse much any more...they try...but she does keep them in line and watches them frollicking in the yard from a safe distance and shoots out to any other cat that she does not trust near them....of course, the "Babysitter" is always there...a scrawny gray fighting tom...LOL....

Of the other five....Stripes babies...the little calico is gone  she eventually moved them into the garage when a big storm was upon us and since she moved them, we have not seen the calico...however, the others are venturing out to play...the two yellows will let me pick them up....the smallest one sits right out and plays with Ghost...the black one will tolerate me picking it up, but squeals alot...LOL...and the black and white one high tails it back into hiding when I come near....I have managed to catch it a couple of times....

Those 4 are on Clavamox...when I can catch them...the two yellows are a bit raspy...but all eyes are totally clear now....I managed to catch the smallest one and got her in to be checked for a URI...I TRY to get .25ml into each one twice a day...but it is more sporatic when I can see them out playing and sneak up to grab them...I always grab the yellows first since they showed definite signs...the two black and white has not had any...it seems fine...and the all black one had snotty eyes so it has gotten a couple of doses...
I hate that they are not consistent doses...but with them hiding somewhere in our horrendous garage...I catch and treat when I can!!

Overall....I am currently feeding 13-15 adults...and those 3 kittens.....and the 4 little garage "beebee keekees" are starting to be curious about the kibble I put down for Stripe...so I put enough out for all of them....
They get fed twice a day....a 18# bag of food does not last me more than 5 days any more....*sighs*....
I really need to find homes....and funds to spay/neuter....I need to win the lottery.....LOL.....

Have not been here for a while in this post....all these kittens are doing great...

3 more born today literally right outside the front door....these are from a gorgeous longhaired calico we named Pretty...
one cream coloured
one white with black spots
one black with white fur ringed around its eyes and mouth

trying desperately to find homes for about 17 females and 8 males before winter....I cannot afford a bag of food every 3.5 days and I worry about them this winter!!
AND I cannot afford the KITTENS they will keep making...nor the spay fees...only about $75 each...but multiply that by the current 17...it is ALOT

stupid neighbor

Do you not have a local or regional rescue org who does frequent low-cost spays and neuters?

As for the neighbor, why the heck aren't they contributing to getting these cats cared for? Is this the same neighbor who's wife left, and he's just letting you do all the work?
