Big Boy

Post by Tambrey »

A friend of mine had to let her cat go across the bridge yesterday afternoon and is having his burial today...

She wrote the other day...and then this morning
OK... cat euthenasia appointment made. At least this vet, there's a good feeling that we can take time, in a comfortable setting, to say goodbye to Big Boy... he has been suuuuuch a sweet cat over the years...

Wasn't even supposed to come up here. But in 97, he was at my mom's house in NV every other weekend for 9 months, while I was cleaning out her house. And I wasn't feeding him, he was a stray!

My mom told me NOT to bring him back, but I decided that his luck was gonna run out eventually; would get hit by car, or coyotes would get him. So brought him back, and was she maaad! But of course, over time she was glad I did...

So, he had a little over 12 years of a very good life & home, ruler of the neighborhood for quite a while...

He's had a really good life, and now it's time to let him go with dignity and peace...

(this morning...)
So sad... the vet placed him so he looks like he's sleeping, in his carrier (top comes off)...
And now her bunny is making a loud chittering noise...she said he only does that when in extreme pain, being a rabbit and mostly hiding pain well...so back to the vet she is going with him to find out what is wrong...she is thinking his teeth...he is a Lop...so prayers all goes well for NeoBunny

I'm so sorry about Big Boy

The rabbit probably needs a teeth filing.

Thanks Traci....that is what she is thinking about NeoBunny as well...she said his teeth are not good anyways and he goes in regularly for filing and checking them...but of course, this is something that has come up between visits

she just wrote back after I sent my condolenses to her
Ohh yes... they really do it in a humane way... they do a shot first, that sedates the animal. So while they're slowly going to sleep, you can hold, pet, say your goodbyes...

Then, once the animal doesn't know anything, they give a direct shot, IV, that stops the heart. It was very peaceful... and then she curled him up, like he was just asleep in his crate... (they had a chux we could put under his towel, for jic...)

So it should make it much easier for burying him today. Couldn't yesterday... not only late, but weather was realllly nasty...
It is good to know there are caring compassinate vets out there...the hospital we use is good when that time comes as well...they bring in a handmade tied together blanket in pink or blue, wiht cats or dogs on it...for the animal to lay on and let you spend your time with your furkid before, during and after...and they have cardboard caskets of various sizes that they lay the animal into, like it is curled up sleeping...

and she just wrote back about NeoBunny...if it turns out to be his teeth when they take him in this afternoon...they have decided he won't go through any more surgeries...so if that is needed...she will be burying TWO furkids this afternoon
