This happens more than people realize. We've had almost a dozen pets end up in my city hundreds of miles away from home in just the last year. Usually having escaped when their owners were passing through, did not attend the pets properly in their vehicles, and a couple due to vehicle accidents where the pets were frightened and ran from the scene. Some found their way into delivery trucks and traveled far from home. Thankfully, there are certain people in this world who go the extra mile and make every attempt to locate owners, or the owners make every attempt to locate their pets!

Charlie's story is a happy ending, he's a really cute cat!

Something similar happened to someone down here. Her dog (I think it was a Pom) was stolen years ago. It ended up in a shelter somewhere up north. The shelter called the woman down here because the dog had a microchip. I think the dog had been gone for at least 5 years. They were absolutely amazed they got it back. I finally had mine microchipped last year - I'd been meaning to do it for years, and finally did it when they had their dentals. Dylan's was supposed to be done when he was neutered, but they forgot to do it.
