Has anybody tried the covered litter boxes that have a little doorway in them?
I'd really like to know if they work well. I often see them advertised.

Re: Covered litter boxes?
I have two (the lift-top type), but I keep the tops lifted up. My cats don't care about it, but it helps keep the litter dust contained
Some cats won't use a covered litterbox, it just depends on the cat.

I tried them but none really liked them...however, most of our cats tend to be on the big size (not fat, just BIG cats!) and I think they felt cramped in there....
I get storage totes and use a serated knife that I get hot in the flame on the stove (I keep it separate for JUST creating new litterboxes!!) and cut a hole in one end of the tote...making it high enough to keep litter in and large enough for them to walk in...but most jump over the top...I tried keeping the tops on those, but they did not like it either...
I like the storage totes because the sides are tall and for those, like Roo, who do not always SQUAT down to pee, the stream just lands on the side of the tote rather than the surrounding walls and onto the floor!!

My cat has one to contain the litter and to keep bad smells inside and it took her a few days to figure out how to use the catflap. Now she is fine with it.
