MomPaws, kitty house updates
MomPaws, kitty house updates
Here's Sweetie, and Squeaky and Sweetie together in the kitty house. Of course, I don't always think to take my camera outside with me, but I managed to get a few.
Sweetie, on very rare occasion, playing (sorry so blurry)
Mostly, he just wants to nap and keep an eye on the kitty door...

Sweetie is not so hot on sharing...
But with a little coaxing, he calms down...
Squeaky, according to his owner, has been staying inside at home since we've had so many cold snowy days.
Sweetie has started coming around during late hours, so lately, it's been hard to catch him to spend time with him. Last two days has been bitterly cold so he's inside the kitty house more often and where I can spend time with him. He's been caterwauling around the house, it's too early for mating season, so don't know what's up. I really need to catch that boy and get him in for vetting and neutering!

Awww...they are so sweet Traci...I love that you did this for these outdoor kitties. I wish I could do that here for the two kitties that I see hanging around outside. It broke my heart after we had the big snow to see kitty paw prints in it wondering where he was when all the snow was falling...not to mention he have hawks and owls, foxes and coyotes, bobcats and rumors of mountain lions around here. I best not get started
Great pics...love the one of Sweetie hissing...reminds me of Willow

Re: MomPaws, kitty house updates
I subliminally posted that one just for you so you wouldn't feel alone
I hope this is encouraging, cats have a way of finding shelter and warm places, whether they be sheds, garages, outbuildings etc, sometimes they can even find a ditchbank and burrow under a hollow with leaves etc. (I've witnessed this). Not that these places are ideal, but at least keeping bitter wind and snow away is better than nothing.
I do feel better knowing our kitties have a safe warm place, and the whole kitty neighborhood knows about it The little light I have in there serves as a beacon through the storm.

LOVE the updates....I would still love to do something like this for he outside ones...hubby, however, is not so sure yet...he wants to encourage them to go away and find someplace else
And not bring any more inside!!
On the one hand, he says he "hates" cats...on the other, he will pick up the nearest one (inside) and hold it like a baby and play with it

Traci- such great pics. I love Sweetie..he is such a handsome dude. I am glad he has it so good thanks to you. How warm does it stay in there?...probably warmer than my house is at night.
Re: MomPaws, kitty house updates
MomPaws, if the weather outside is above 0 degrees, the house can get anywhere from 70-95 degrees inside. If it is below zero, the heater has a little difficulty in getting power to generate anything beyond 60 degrees inside. But, it is a comfortable 60 degrees since there are no air holes in the house and everything is contained. We've had several below-zero days and nights here but I always check the house and if I'm comfortable inside without a coat, I know the cats are even more comfy.
Anything above zero and I find I have to sort of monitor the heater, sometimes even have to turn it down because it gets the house pretty warm! It helps in cold weather too that I have fleece all over the floor and on the kitty perch and on their bed. Sweetie also lets me know if it's too warm, he will go inside, eat, take a three-minute nap and goes back out, stares at me, explores the garden until I adjust the heater then goes back inside when he knows it's not so warm
I love Sweetie too, he is such a special little guy!

Yes, he has his own furcoat. I have it at 60 in here overnight and when the furnace does kick on it gets too hot...so I know how Sweetie feels. He is a lucky guy to have his home and you! Looks like he is very happy in there.if I'm comfortable inside without a coat, I know the cats are even more comfy.
Re: MomPaws, kitty house updates
I think he is happy, when he rests his head in my arms, I think he's pretty content.
Even when I don't see him, I know he has been inside the kitty house since the food is always eaten and he slurps his water so there is always a little mess on the water dish
