Not yet... lol. It's a furious, consuming kind of anticipation. The sunshine doesn't come until AFTER. Until then it's like holding your breath for way too long. Being apart for a year spawns some WEIRD emotions. It's completely different from a month apart (we've done a couple of those). Can't even explain it.

I tortured myself a little, took the long way home from the pharmacy (picking up allergy meds... let the prescription run out and didn't want to go out in the rain to pick it up; HUGE MISTAKE... was so itchy and sneezy last night I wanted to claw my eyes out... took my Allegra, was FINE ten minutes later... hallelujah for that pill!) and drove past the parade field...

All the speakers are set up, the tent is pitched, the banners are up... just waiting on that plane...

I can honestly say I know the anticipation you are feeling...my DH spent a year in Viet Nam, during which time our daughter was born. He did get to come back for the birth, though. Together again...Enjoy!!!!

It's weird, isn't it, Marty? Half of you is the most excited you've ever been, half of you is terrified out of your mind. It's sort of like being at the peak of a roller coaster hill about to plummet to the ground, except it's not five seconds of adrenaline, it lasts like... a week. And has been building for a month.

ARGH I kinda wish I didn't have to go to church this morning and could just hide under the covers for today... lol... but I play guitar with the band, so I kinda gotta go. And I need to go to Verizon to turn his phone back on... so he can call me from Maine... TOMORROW.

Yep, it's a lot of little adjustments for both of you learning to live together, after being independent for so long. I remember one Sunday afternoon, he wanted to go to a movie without thinking of the fact that we needed a babysitter (new place, didn't know any). I was used to thinking along those lines, but he wasn't. But it comes in time...

I remember when my first husband came home from being stationed abroad for a year. I know what you mean about the exciting/terrifying at the same time feeling...I remember it well!

Marty, your situation sounds similar to mine. My youngest was born when he was station in Turkey and he too got to come home for the birth...it was so tough for him to go back after that, in fact he contemplated going AWOL until his father talked him out of it. Tough times...

DH went AWOL briefly after his first deployment... LOTS of bad stuff happened and he wasn't handling it well, plus he was only 18... but he went back before they had time to get TOO angry. Ended up receiving a slap on the wrist. But he's still in counseling for what happened. War's tough; too many people don't really get it.

Just talked to him. Said he's glad for the layover in Kuwait because it's really helping him unwind, instead of having to do most of the tension-releasing at home. He's in pretty good spirits. Info on when the ceremony is changes every half hour. I'm getting tired of the e-mails/phone calls, lol. Just call me when he's in Maine and I'll show up three hours later...

Well, knock me over with a feather... both cats sat perfectly still to get their claws clipped. Izzy usually does fine until the last one and then fights me. Emmy, I usually can't touch her paws at ALL. But they both took it like champs.

They must know Daddy's coming home... TODAY! Going to pick him up in about 5 hours. :bounce:

All best wishes from me too, Silver... And yes, I know the feeling... for me it was looking out over San Diego's "Harbor of the Sun", waiting for that big ol' carrier to dock after many months in the China Sea... My DD was born at NAS North Island (Coronado CA) in '52 while her daddy was on combat cruise to Korea... and then again a year or so later, same air group, same dock, different ship... All I can tell you is that in later years this time in your life will be precious memories. Make the most of it, kiddo! :bounce:
