a sad message about greybear

Post by Erica »

hey all.... erica is at home, this is Geoff, her fiance.. she wanted me to let everybody know what happend last night.

about 9pm she had a seizure. throughout the night she had quite a few more. We took her to the 24 hour vet to see if there was anything we could do. She put up a very strong fight. but... around 4 30am her body finally gave up and she passed to the great yarn ball in the sky. We both thank everybody for your understanding and help with information and comfort through these tough times. Greybear also appriciates the advice that everybody has given over the course of the last couple of weeks. She was a fighter and will always be remembered. Erica thanks you for the compassion that you have all shown over these matters. she will be at work tomorrow, she just needed to take the day to herself to help mend the wound. ... Again our thanks.

I am so sorry about Greybear. I know how sad you both must be. You were so good to her, and she loved you for trying to help her.

((HUGS)) And lots of prayers that your broken hearts will mend quickly and be filled with only the good memories of a beloved pet.

I've finally managed to drag myself out of the house to get to the library. Last night was horrible. We counted about 17 seizures last night, all but one were from 1:30 til about 4 in the morning. She at least got to die in our arms and she knew she was loved. I was so upset with myself at first, thinking that maybe something could have been done earlier. We were only given one dose of valium at the vets and used that as soon as we got home as she seized again. They kept coming about every 3-7 minutes apart and by the time I got some phenobarbital to try to sedate her she was gone. I had held her the whole time and tried to calm her and talk her through the seizures but it was just too much for her little body. She's being buried today and we have her collar and tag that will go in a picture frame with her picture. Thank you so much everyone for everything. She would not have made it this far without everyones help and support and she will be missed. Now I have to focus myself on gabriel. I'm afraid through most of this he has been neglected. He wants nothing but attention and love. He appears to be coming down with colici but I think we caught it in time and he should heal up just fine. Thanks again everyone.

Erica,

There was nothing you could have done about the seizures. Sometimes there is no apparent cause and when they are clustered, they are very difficult to control. Some seizures can be controlled, others manifest into comas or total loss of function. They are very hard to predict, please don't beat yourself up over this, your vet did the best he could. And so did you.

You're in my thoughts and prayers, I know this is an extremely emotionally trying time for you. We will all miss sweet little GreyBear, and we're fortunate that you've shared so much of her with us....(((HUGS)))

Erica & Geoff,
I am so very sorry about the loss of Grey Bear. You've done all that anyone could have done for her, not only last night, but for all the time you've shared together. I'm sure she knew how much you loved her and loved you in return. That love and devotion will cross the bridge with her and will remain in your hearts forever.
She was a special kitty and will be missed by all. I will keep her in my prayers for peace and happiness n Kitty Heaven.
(((HUGS)))
Kitty kisses,
Debbie
