We *might* have an addition to the family
As you know Laura took in a momma kitty who had a litter of 4 kittens. For a while now we have been thinking about finding a companion for Willow, but have been reluctant because we are still in small living quarters. After talking about it we have decided to have Laura bring one of the kittens over and give it a trial run to see how Willow does. She always LOVED kittens before and still gets excited when she sees them through the glass door of the adoption center at our vet's office. No hissing or acting out to them, just a look of anticipation.
Anyway, of the 4 kittens Laura thinks one of the males, Chunk, has the best personality for Willow. He's rather reserved and a momma's boy. One of the girls is kind of aggressive, she even had the audacity to take a treat away from the alpha male of the house!! Ellie, the other girl might not be a bad choice either. But we are going to give Chunk first shot at it.
Keep your fingers crossed! I think it will be good for Willow to have a companion, someone she can cuddle and play with when we aren't home. And it will take the stress off of Laura when it comes to finding one home. They still are having some difficulty finding homes for Lyra especially. I'd take her but she seems to be more suited to a 1 cat house. I will not put Willow through the stress of having a cat being aggressive to her again.
I'll post some more photos later!

They are ALL adorable!
Maybe your daughter could consider someone who fosters, to get an idea of what Lyra prefers as far as environment, number of companions etc. Is Lyra spayed now? If not, perhaps spaying will have an effect on her behavior (less tendency for agressiveness). I hate the thought that she's "hard to place", seems she has had a pretty stressful journey already.

I'm sure if she could find someone to foster Lyra she would happily agree to it. Tim has a co-worker who does a lot of rescue work and she's putting the word out. Right now the shelters around here are all very full and the Humane Society in the county she lives won't take cats except through the county animal shelter...and shelter decides who is adoptable and who isn't...and those who aren't...well So she will NOT take her to a shelter unless it's no-kill. I hate to think of her has hard to place as well, she's a very sweet cat, calm and gentle, loving, quiet, seems rather adaptable...except when she encounters the other cats. No, she hasn't been spayed yet, so it's true that might make a difference. Please be assured the Lyra will not be dumped off where she doesn't stand a chance. In fact, Laura called me the day she inquired at the Humane Society, crying, because she couldn't stand the thought of a cat being evaluated as "non-adoptable" and PTS. If only people would spay and neuter...grrrrr!! It makes me so sick to see the animals not cared for! Anyway, I better not get started.

Chunk is quite a cutie. I hope all works out for you and that Lyra finds a good forever home. The group picture is wonderful. I love the looks of the kitten in the back (the one with the white face). I'll bet you're going to tell me that's the one that's the holy terror - that one looks so sweet, but looks can be deceiving.

Karen, the one in the back is Ellie, and it was between her and Chunk for me. She's not the little hellion, that would be Abby, the other brown tabby that is sideways beside Chunk. She's the one who stole the treat from the alpha male who is a good sized grown cat!
We are praying Lyra finds a good forever home as well...and none of us will give up on her until she does. I wish I could take her, but I just can't risk it.

Tina, now the tuxy is not from that litter is it? (That one looks like my Angel)
Ellie is just adorable. I love her markings. I'm glad she's not the bad one. There is something about her that I really like. If I were to get a kitten, she would be one I would definitely be attracted to. I hope she finds a good home.
