They are all adorable. I think kids are always fascinated by fire. It is fun to watch to flames leap around. Hope they didn't get too close.

It was wonderful how that warmed up the entire room on a cold night. It has actually been years since I've had a fire there. Got some of those logs in case of emergency...DH was the fire caretaker, so I'm not comfortable with it on my own.

The screen is very safe...it not only has glass doors, but a very stiff mesh door.

I always wanted my grandparents to build a fire in their fireplace. They built the house in the late 1930s and my grandmother was there until 1974 (one year after Granddaddy died). They never used it. I will never know why they built a house with a fireplace but never built a fire. I do know my grandfather was very afraid of anything that might cause the house to catch on fire. He had more than a healthy respect for electricity. He wouldn't even sleep under an electric blanket until he was in his 70s. I guess he knew enough people who used them by then. He was always afraid he would be electricuted in his sleep or it would catch on fire.
