back paws full of litter
back paws full of litter
Our 14 year old cat, Chester, steps in his urine on the way out of the box. He doesn't cover anything anymore. The clumping litter sticks to his back paws. I took him to the vet to have it cleaned but it got dirty again the same day. I am thinking of ordering some kind of bath or wipes for his paws and also a mat that will get some of the litter off. Are these effective? Are there any other suggestions? I know paws are very sensitive, don't want to damage them, and don't want cleaning them to become a dreaded activity. Thanks.
Re: back paws full of litter
Maybe consider another type of clumping litter, one with less dust.
A litter mat might help.
Why not quickly rinse his paws off in the sink, especially if you have a sprayer on the sink. Only takes a second and this ensures it is all off (the water pressure will do this). Otherwise, put a couple paper towels on the floor and take a very wet washcloth and wipe off his paws, this too only takes a few seconds. He will probably naturally take over from there (grooming, and the grooming process dries the paws). Just make sure his paws aren't soaked so he doesn't slip on a tile or linoleum floor.

Thanks again, Traci. I ordered litter box mats and will try using the sprayer in the sink.
