I've a new "grandcat"...and soon will have great g
My daughter and her boyfriend had a cat show up at their house about a week or so ago. Since she kept coming back after they gave her some food they figured she must not have had a home so they decided to adopt her. They caught her and took her into the vet this morning. She checked out OK, healthy and free of disease. The vet says she is going to have at least 4 kittens, so they are hoping to find homes for the kittens. Thankfully, the vet said he would help find homes for the kittens. There is no way they can keep the kittens and mama kitty, but they are going to keep mama. She stole their hearts. Right now she is being confined to the laundry room and they plan on introducing her slowly to their household of furry felines. Two of the cats seem to be OK with meeting her "through the door" while one is still hissing. She is making herself very at home and is very loving though...

I don't know how I missed this post, Tina, forgive me. Lyra is a gorgeous girl, she looks so soft and cuddly!
Keep us updated on her and kitten progress, ok? And tell daughter and BF thank you so much for taking her into their hearts and home!

No kittens yet! DD says she simply ignores the other cats when they hiss or swipe at her...it's like she's just happy to have a home. Most of the other cats have acclimated to her other than a hiss here or there...I don't think they have had any major fights break out so far.
I'll let you know as soon as some kittens come along! I haven't met her yet, but can't wait to do so We could always bring a kitten home for Willow

I'm so glad to hear everything is going so well. She really is a beautiful girl, she has a sort of lioness face

She is gorgeous - a classic compact, short-haired tortie! ... Good to know the type is still extant. I too am waiting eagerly for the kits! We want lots of pics, please!

Actually, she appears to be a classic brown tabby with possibly some abyssinian.

Good point, Traci - think I meant "tabby" rather than "tortie" What impresses me is the short hair, the well-proportioned, compact build and the neat round head... I lived so long in subtropical coastal areas, where different feline strains have been imported from all over the world and allowed to roam free for generations (human generations that is!) In New Orleans for example, it is rare to see a cat - especially one from the streets - that does not have some longhair characteristics and "ranginess" (if that is a real word lol.) Not that the latter types are not beautiful too - just that it's nice to see a "classic" still exists.

She's a beauty. Please post kitten pics, cute captions are optional! Can't wait to see the babies.

Yep, I forget too sometimes, so many cats, so little time
I think Lyra might also possibly have some American Shorthair in her too, either way, I think she's just beautiful, she looks soooooooo soft!
