Winnie again
Winnie again
Poor baby, She falls asleep and forgets to wake up when she has to pee. I called the Vet and he really doesn't want to give her any meds, just yet. He would rather wait until the stiitches come out on Monday. He feels meds might interfere with her recovery. He suggested that we wake her up to go out more often. I have a lot of faith in him, but I spent all day cleaninig with the steam vac, and washing sheets amd comforters. I worked it out that she can have the front bedroom with the waterbed, she can't hurt that too much. I got a vinyl cover, and put a old comforter on it- it can be washed as often as needed, and she can look out the window and patrol the neighborhood. She will be happy. I will keep the other bedrooms closed, for now. It was not much fun to come home last night at midnight, and try to find a dry spot to lay myself down...My poor Wnnie...she doesn't like it either..
So sorry your both having this problem, Marty...
Honey had incontinence and the vet's prescribed medicine has worked. Hope that happens for Winnie, too. (oops I didn't mean you both had the same problem..he,he)

We have had a couple of dogs with temporar incontinence.....
Prissy for about a month after being spayed would "leak" at night while sleeping. A last PEE call before sleeping and waking up at about 2 or 3 AM for a quick Pee-Call kept the pee on the bed to a minimum.
Since then there have been two or three episodes where she has peed in her sleep. THis was usually after a day of exceptionally high activity, lasting almost until bedtime.
Tippy wet the bed three times after her spay, but after about a week, the incontinence went away.
Coco still has occassional problems with peeing in her sleep, but she is the one with the back injury that cannot (or will not) use her hind legs. (EXPLANATION: She does get up on all fours sometimes. And she does scratch her ears with her hind legs.)
Hope this helps.

Ah yea, of little faith...hang in there it will::
improve but it is embarrasing for the dog. and there is nothing as funny as an embarrased basset...they take all the worries of the world upon themselves...
I never think of the camera when I should...
If you've never seen an embarrassed Basset, you would be in for a treat, but I know that is a tough order! but it is planted firmly in my head...
