How do you know he isn't bothering them, scratching them, you said you were gone all day, so you don't know if he was uncomfortable or in pain and scratched them.

No, you can't use heavier sutures, you need to get an e-collar for him and supervise him with it on. You also have to make sure your vet gives you appropriate antibiotics as well as pain meds if neccessary.

I will talk to the vet more about antibiotics and some oral or topical pain medication tomorrow when we go in...as well as orals for the yeast infection....we are doing the drops, but not able to get into his ears and clean them good as we should because I do not want to hurt him by holding his ear to do that...I can ask the vet to do that tomorrow while he is under also....get in there and clean them good again...

It may have bothered him today....I don't know for sure...but I do know we hubby was home yesterday and we were home lastnight and he never bothered it once, so I figured he was over the worst and into the healing...but then...it could be itching now with healing...I just thought of that :(

Cuddles and Gypsy have both had a hematoma, and Roo has had two now, and I have never had this happen before so it is frustrating....I hate seeing him being bothered by it and I hate having to put him through a surgery for it...again...

I have never had to use an E-collar on a cat either...so when we have to go to work, and he is not wearing it....what then?....How do I keep him from scratching and rubbing at it? :(

Well if all else fails, your vet can bandage it, but would require daily checking.

Thanks Traci....a bandage huh?...I am trying to imagine THAT staying on!!

I took him in this morning....they checked his ear and it had swelled again, one stitch was pulled inside, he was not happy just having his ear checked even so they were going to sedate him again to clean it and restitch it....but he aid it looked really good...no signs of infection...the fluid that came out when he checked it was clear and a bit of blood...

I asked about cleaning his ear good while he was there too since I was not using a Q-Tip in there...he looked just quickly and said it was really looking good too but he wold and I left his medicine there....

I also asked about either topical or oral pain meds for a few days as he seems to be more sensitive this time....
I'll talk more about that when I go pick him up after work...I get off at 3:30 today so will get there before they close
