HELP!! Something wrong with kittens eye

Post by Erica »

Hey, my new FeLV+ kitten has something seriously wrong with his eye. He was fine last night but when i got up this morning his eyes were bloody and it looked like his eyelids were turning outwards. This is just what it looked like to me & my fiancee but there was definately blood. He's at the vet right now, we got him there first thing this morning. We've ruled out possible chemical irritation. He only stays in my bedroom and he sleeps in the bathroom at night. We checked and theres nothing chemical in there. I'm just wanting an idea of what it might possibly be and what tests they'll run since our normal vet isnt there. I get a little worried when another vet is looking at my pets, especially my feleuks.

Thats what I was thinking. After doing a little research, it seems like it might be that, but I can't find any pictures to look at and compare. I'll let you know though...if they can even figure it out.

He'll be ok. the vet just called and said that it looks like conjuctivitis. They did a stain on the eye that looks the worst and theres no damage to the eye. They're sending him home with eye drops, I think it's the combo steroid/antibiotic eye drops, also with cortizone I believe. He said that if it gets worse, to stop it immediately or if theres no change they'll drop the cortizone and also put him on oral antibiotics. They said it looks bacterial or viral due to the drainage but that he has sores around his mouth and chin so they don't know if he got into something. They also don't know if this is a repercussion of the FeLV or if this is a secondary infection. I guess we'll see how it goes, but he'll be ok.

just a guess but i susp[ect the feluk lowered the normal resistance and the eye took the brunt....glad it is nothing more serious....but make sure you keep giving the med for as long as your vet says..premature stopping can be a big problem
