A Friend's Dog is Missing

Post by Tambrey »

A friend of ours had their house broken into lastnight...nothing is missing except their dog?!

They are not sure if the dog(s) scared the burglars off, if the dog ran off scared when the door was kicked in, or if they broke in specifically to take this one dog....

That is so sad. I used to think of that sometimes...if someone broke in and let the dog out or cat. In this case with nothing missing except the dog...makes you wonder.
What breed of dog? Pedigreed?

MomPaws, I was wondering the same thing - purebred dog... or home invasion by criminals known to victims... We hear of this kind of thing so often in cities, but one would think in a semi-rural area - but maybe Tambrey means an online friend. Anyway, it is truly scary. In fact, after fire, home invasion scares me the most... maybe earthquake, but even then, most people have a chance.Hope the dog is found unharmed.

He is a White Rat terrier with a couple of black patches...since they put out posters and notices at the vet's they HAVE received one call from someone who saw him that same evening not far from their house, and not long after the police figure the break-in happened, which was while they were at church...so at least we know the little dog ran scared rather than was taken....hopefully he is still safe out there somewhere....

I'll bet he is very nearby, just waiting for things to quiet down. Tell the owner to go out as often as possible, call out to him, tap on a can of dog food, leave out food by door, watch out doors and windows for him. He needs to hear his owners' voice so he knows the intruders are gone.

I sent her a message...there has been another sighting as well...she has her facebook with his picture and people are putting up where they have seen him last...2 confirmed sightings now...this second one was quite a ways off, though :?

And it is stormy and nasty here tonight...raining and WINDY and COLD...I hope the little guy has found shelter or they are able to find him tonight....

It's a good sign that there have been sightings, this means he is willing to be seen, possibly even approached by a kind, caring soul. Have the owner go immediately to the area last seen, rain or shine, they can still go call out to him, (take an umbrella), or drive a few feet, turn off engine, call out window, continue on, stopping and turning off the engine so they can hear if he barks etc). Everything they can do in the first two days increases the chances of finding him. Since you're so "local", do you have a local radio station who can give this little lost guy some airtime?

Patches is home....I was sort of out of the loop this weekend....hubby flew in Friday night from Houston at 10:50pm....we went to eat....I fought a migraine all day Saturday, along with needed shopping and chores that had to get done....so I am just getting caught up on things today and Patches came home lastnight.... :D

Yay Patches! Tambrey, please give us details when you can, OK? No hurry - I think I did fairly well w/chores, meeting flights and all that, but M'am, I bet you do better, considering all the new twists in this Century! It does me good to hear "the Beat goes on!" :D
