Escape Artist

Post by Tambrey »

A woman on another forum has Newfie's...yes..PLURAL...I believe 3 so far...2 are aid dogs and Marian is hopefully going to be one in the future...

She trains them for certain tasks...anyways...she posted this story and I wanted to share it here....
C, you asked last night who Marian is. She is our little girl Newf with the emphasis on little. She is very small (at 14 months she only weighs 74 lbs - that's really small for a Newf). She is our escape artist. She has managed to get out of 3 different kinds of kennels.

Funny Story

Since I am now back to working days, I thought it would be nice for her to be able to go to Doggie Day care. I took her on Mon and dropped her off for about 4 hours. She did fine, but was not tired at all. Everyone we talked to that has their dogs in day care say they come home exhausted. On Tues, hubby dropped her off around 7:30 am. Before 9:30 he had gotten a call that "we don't think this arrangement is going to work out". Apparently she had jumped a 4 ft gate, a 5 and a 6 ft fence. The only fence she hadn't jumped at the time was the 10 foot one that goes around the property.

For safety reasons, they put her in a kennel until we could go get her. Hubby reminded them that she is an escape artist. Oh no problem, they had a kennel that she couldn't get out of.

Hubby goes to pick her up about 5 pm. The girl goes to the back where the kennels are, and opens the door. Here comes this little black streak past her and heads straight to hubby. Yes, she got out of their "escape proof" kennel.

I was telling one of the other nurses at work what happened. I said I felt like my child had been expelled from day care. She laught and said that I should do like a lot of other parents today do. I asked what she meant. She said "Blame it on the teacher."
