No question is stupid...pm means private message...you press the "PM" button on the person's message that they posted to reply privately to them.

Your email is now changed in your profile. You can set your profile to either allow or disallow your email to be shown under your posts. Only those logged in can see it if you allow it from your profile page. Spammers won't find it because they aren't going to register or log in to scan for them.
