Just got back anfd the vet wasn' too terribly impressed with my concerns. I showed him the chart, especially with the gray one and where he wasn't gaining. I was told that if he or any should start losing weight, then I need to be concerned. Mama seems to be producing milk well enough, no clogged nipples.
She weighs only 6 pounds. He told me just to keep feeding her canned and dry kitten food and not to supplement the gray on with feeding. Just keep an eye on him and continue to weigh him each day to ensure he's not losing.
Then he went on to explain that out in the wild, they don't always make it, there are sometimes a runt or two that just don't make it, blah, blah, blah. I told him that's what I'm trying to prevent here by having him checked, to make sure he is okay and not fading or having some disease. Vet really didn't check him over as well as I'd hoped. I even asked about cleft palate, he barely lookerd and said hr lookd fine.
And that's that.
The fact that he is picking up weight again is a good sign.
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

Not yet. But when I do I'll let you know. Safe to assume though that the calico is female

Debbie, I'm sorry, it sounds like you got one of the vets who doesn't know crap about kittens and isn't willing to learn.

I do agree with one thing, monitoring for any weight LOSS.

Give it a day or two, monitor him extremely closely, weight check, and if he doesn't start gaining a bit more, try to supplement a bit with the KMR. Just be careful because the supplementing can cause diarrhea, and a sort of taxing on his tiny young system wheras he's used to mom's milk. If possible, try to avoid the supplementing at all, just see how he does in another couple days, ok?

I also agree on continuation of feeding mom the kitten foods. If you have to, physically place her in another private area so she will be more tempted to eat. She could be so overwhelmed by the kittens' mewing at every turn, she is not getting enough per sitting when she eats. Technically, most queens will be thin after delivery and generally this is not cause for alarm (as long as they are otherwise in perfect health), but she does need to eat more. Just don't let her be seperated from the kittens for too long.

Keep us posted!!!

Mama ixs eating well. She just didn't like the Authority canned. i switched her to Friskies and she ate that well and I now have her back on Fancy Feast canned kitten and she is eatin very well. She never does stay away from the kittens long. Even when she's on break, she'll always be just in front of the crate watching them. And no maytter what she's doing, once one starts crying she's right there with them.
I weight the little gray one a bout 6pm and he is up to 6.8!!!! He's really gaining again and feeling moe solid. But I will keep monitoring all their weights. Thanks!!!
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

Little gray one is still gaining. I weighed her (I think it's a her) and she is now up to 6.9 ounces and feeling alot more solid than she has and cuter than ever! I've named the calico Wildfire and keeping with the animals in 70's songs I've named the little gray one Shannon. Still not decided on what to call the oranges...suggestions?

Woo-Hoo, gaining weight!!!! And, eyes opening!!

70's songs, sheesh, that's a tough one, I can only think of Boo. If you'd allow a band, I'd also name the other babe Jet (Paul McCartney).

OMG CUTE! cUTE! CUTE!.....Thanks so much for the pictures Debbie..we love em. It made my day to see them. The little gray one is going to be very pretty- looks like a beautiful coat. But my heart loves the orange ones and of course the calico. The calico has quite a round little tummy and seems to be vocal.
