Then I guess I read that backward, the creatinine is alittle high. I think I'd watch his water consumption and urine real closely in the next few weeks and if you notice anything unusual, no matter how slight, you might have to consider retesting sooner than a month.

If you're going to feed a commercial brand, try to stick with Purina. But, the next time you talk to your vet, ask about the potential for initiating a veterinary renal diet, taking into account all the renal monitoring done within a couple months. It wouldn't be a bad thing to feed a specific renal diet to a kitty this age to help slow down potential renal compromise, kind of like a partial prevention method.

I know how worried you are, but I think at this point in time, Razz is doing fairly well. You just have to monitor him frequently, especially with the new tapazole medication, and then you'll have to keep monitoring renal function, it's kind of par for the course.

Btw, whenever the numerical 8 is posted to close to any other character (without a space), it will become the smiley face.

Fedding him separately would be impossible so I would have to buy whatever he's eating for everyone.....$$$$ !!!!! But I will do it and hope they will all eat whatever it is he winds up with. I know Friskies puts out a line of special diet, which i do buy in cans along with the regular stuff and 9 Lives. I could really stock up on that wen it's on sale. They also have the dry too. If we need to do Hills or whoever I guess I just won't feed hubby anymore, LOL!
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

But you can't feed a prescription renal diet to the other cats, since it would be too low in protein.

Darn! That would be just too easy then wouldn't it? Can't imagine then how I can feed him separately. It's 6 against 1 and they are used to being free fed and they eat in shifts.
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

I feed mine on the counter (for those with Rx diets), the others eat their food on the floor, the squirt bottle is handy for this since they learn what is theirs and what isn't. An occasional nibble of regular food wouldn't be too bad for one on a prescription diet, but you don't want them eating more of it than their Rx diet. It also isn't so bad to start scheduled feeding (except for kittens, in which, you'd want to put them in another room a few times a day for their kitten food, same goes for your foster momma kitty)
