a woman on my SHE forums posted that on Christmas Day her daughter brought their 9 week old puppy over for the day....The Mom had also just gotten a 3.5 month old pup a few days before, so they were playing together...with human supervision...

However, the younger puppy got too rambunctious and the older one gave a warning nip....and it got the little one in the eyeball...one of the fangs got caught in the pup's eye....The Mom was sick with worry and spent hours crying over what happened....even though it was a total accident between the pups...

She was also mad at her children because they laughed at her for crying and said that the pup needs to learn her place and don't worry about it...Even though the pup was in obvious distress over it at that time....

We (the Mom and I) Private messaged a few times back and forth, and she sent me this message today....
Tambrey, I posted this yesterday on the regular thread. Too lazy to retype, but I wanted you to know they took her yesterday (Friday), not today!

GrandPuppy update:
DD took Phoebe to the vet this morning for her eye injury yesterday. She is on steriods and antibiotics. Hopefully it will clear up. No damage to her "seeing parts" so that part is good. DD said that while she was at the vet, Phoebe took after an adult Husky and a full sized Boxer in the waiting area. She only weighs 8 pounds. She played all day, and she is eating well. She doesn't seem that phased about her eye, but the humans around her are all worried.

I hope I don't offend anyone, but I would like to ask you to pray for her. I am a wreck over it, and can't stop worrying and feeling sick to my stomach over it. I can't stand the thought of her losing her eye. She is 9 weeks old, and there is a chance that could happen. If you are so inclined, please pray for her.
So please....will you pray for Phoebe and her eye, that it heals completely....and for TimePig....for her peace of mind and heart....

Thanks

I just received another message from her
I just came back from DD's to take a "get well basket" and card (I had no idea you could buy a get well card for a canine, but you can!). I got her a travel crate (DD is afraid to drive with her loose in the car when she has DGD with her, which is usually the case.), a huge bag of her puppy food, some dog poo bags that hook to your leash, some puppy training biscuits, and some rawhides - not that she needs to strengthen her jaw any but she is a chewer and she is trying to eat DGD's toys.

She was very playful, and her eye is not at all weapy, but it is cloudy-ish. She runs and jumps and dives onto blankets. She really seems the least bit phased. She let me hold her for awhile, but scampered off to play. She finally conked out in a pile of toys.

She goes back to the vet on Monday, in the late afternoon.

They may need to get her back in on ER earlier than Monday, particularly since it is appearing cloudy, it might be infection seeping, she at least needs to call the vet and inform him of this change in the eye.

My prayers are with the puppy and his mom, poor baby! (((HUGS)))

I will forward your message to TimePig....she is the "grandma"....the one with the older pup who caused the injury....and the one who was so upset over the incident....

It did not even dawn on me that the cloudyness could be infectious seepage, but that makes sense....and I knew that posting here she would also get additional advice on what to possibly look for!!

Thank you

I'm sending prayers that the puppy recovers fully. What an unfortunate accident! Sometimes they do happen, even when there is human supervision.

I think Traci's advice is good. I think your friend's daughter should get her puppy in to the vet as soon as possible. She wouldn't want to risk the pup's sight in that eye due to an infection.

Prayers and best wishes from me as well.

I worry though about the pup's owner's demeanor and the fact that they want her to "learn her place".
