Petmate LeBistro

Post by corlev »

I started using the LeBistro water container for my cats. I wanted to know if anyone uses it, and how often you clean it, and how you clean it. It had no instructions. Thanks.

You should clean the dish part every week, with dishsoap and water (just as you would your dishes). The water container could be cleaned with soap and water once a month (or more often if there is obvious dirt at the bottom of the container).

While water containers are good in concept for keeping lots of water available, the dish attachments are plastic, which do harbor bacteria and grime, which causes feline acne. Stainless steel pet dishes are the most ideal dishes for all pets.

Thanks, Traci. Right now, I clean them much more often than that. I was afraid I wasn't cleaning it often enough. You made me feel better. I've been quite ill and switched from the stainless steel to these so I have less work each day. I have 3 of them because as my cats are getting older, they are more possessive about the water. This way, I'm sure they have water if I'm not home (like when I had a long stint in the hospital.) I'll watch for the acne, but I've used these since the summer, and it hasn't been a problem. I have also switched from stainless steel to paper for wet food. That has saved a lot of work too. I have quite a regimen of shots, medication, and different foods so anything that makes it a bit easier helps.
