She never really had her own name, just for the last two years, we called her Friendly's Baby...she was the last of the last litter that the "Friendly Feral" Friendly has before she disappeared forever....she was a wonderful mom and if I could have she would have been indoors....
However, her baby was forever skittish and it was just recently that we were even able to touch her...
She was with the others this (late) morning when my husband put food and water out for them...then he had to go fix an ATM so left around noonish....stopped for gas at the station across the street....got about a mile and a half up the road and realized he forgot his cell phone, so came home....
Friendly's Baby was laying by the railroad tracks about 50 yards from our house He stopped and got out right away, but she was gone She was still warm to hold, but no heartbeat....no breath...no signs of external injury....no ruffled fur...no obvious breaks......no vomit or other secretions from her body....no signs in the area to show what might have happened....as he handled her, there was no indication that she might revive....he kept watching and trying for any signs of life at all to attempt to revive her....
We are baffled...and living rural...on a Sunday morning.....to contact a vet and try to get her there...the time lapse would be too great anyways....she would not have had a chance regardless....IF she had shown any signs of revival....if she had come around...of course he would have called and gotten her in....but....well....
Now she can run free and play with her Mom and siblings...forever across the Rainbow Bridge....
Friendly's Baby

Re: Friendly's Baby
Tambrey, I'm so sad and so sorry to read your post. Poor little Friendly's Baby...
That is so hard when you don't know what happened to them. I never knew why my Buster died. You have to try to let it go but I know it never completely leaves your mind.
Just remember you and your hubby did the best you could to help Friendly's Baby. She is now happy and playing with her family at the Rainbow Bridge. They all know you loved them.
(((Hugs))) and ***tears***,
Sue (and Kids)

My kitties Shadow and Tank enable me to enjoy my existence and brighten my world. And may my angels, Nikki, Sparky, Buster, Frosty, Snowball, Leo, Foghorn, and Humane Society kitties be playing in the sunshine at the Rainbow Bridge.

I'm so sorry Tambrey - I know you tried.
As for why, you will never know for sure, but some suggestions would be: internal injuries (do cats have a spleen that can rupture?), infection such as pneumonia, congenital defect, or poison/poisonous plant or toxin,

It is sad to lose one. I'm sorry. Just wanted to say, your caring does count and is a great comfort to all of us. Knowing folks like you and your family are still watching out for the welfare of animals in your part of the world makes me better able to deal with the rest of the "news," ya know? Peace be with you and yours, dear Tambrey!
