Goodbye my big boy Gizmo
Tim just called me from home. Gizmo is gone. I have no idea what happened. His last vet check was good, but he did have the kidney and thyroid problems. Tim said he seemed fine this morning and had been eating, drinking alright, but when he got home my mom and dad said they noticed he hadn't been around, checked and found him. It sounds like he went peacefully in his sleep. It hurts so much to not be there, to know I didn't get to cuddle him one last time. My dad is pretty upset and even my mom was, so is Tim.
Safe journey Gizmo....I know you and Frodo are playing together now....

Oh Tina, I am so very very sorry, my heart so aches for you! I know how difficult this must be when you're so far away, I hope you can find peace knowing Gizmo was near loved ones, I'm sure mom and dad loved him so much and he knew that and knew how much you did too.
Safe and gentle journey, sweet sweet Gizmo, Frodo is with you now, you are together now until we all meet again...((((((HUGS))))))

Re: Goodbye my big boy Gizmo
You know, I was terribly worried about how Willow would handle my being gone, but deep down when I left I had a fear that I would not see Gizmo again. He has always followed so closely in her footsteps. When she had the thromboembolism in summer 2001 and we almost lost her, it wasn't but a few months later that Gizmo developed hepatic lipidosis and we almost lost him. She developed thyroid disease in 2005 and within a few months he was diagnosed. When she developed kidney disease, sure enough within a few months he was diagnosed with mild kidney disease. His has always been udner control though. He has never needed any treatment but diet. When she passed on I wondered how long it would be before he followed.
I feel hollow inside. I hate not being there but in a way it is a good distraction. Returning home will be hard though....

Re: Goodbye my big boy Gizmo
Tina, I'm so sorry to hear about sweet Gizmo. What an adorable face!
I know it is of little comfort to you right now, but at least your sweetheart left this world in peace - knowing he was loved and at home. That is the very kindest way.
Having lost two furbabies in a little over three months, I know how painful this is for you. It must be especially so, with your being away from home. Gizmo knows that you love him. Even though you were not physically beside him, he took a piece of your heart with him. And he has left you a piece of his. He's with his buddies now, playing and well, and is waiting for you.
(((Hugs))) and sympathy,
Sue (and Kids)
