7 yr old limping for weeks..help
I have a 7 1/2 yr old male house cat that has been limping now for 3 weeks. One night 3 weeks ago he suddenly started crying and holding up his back left leg. Took him to the vet next day and they did all bloodwork and x rays and exam and found nothing wrong, said he was perfectly healthy and they thought it was a soft tissue injury..(sprain). Gave him a steroid shot and gave us tramadol pain medicine to give him. He seemed to get a little better but is now back to limping about 50% of the time again. He doesn't act like he's in pain but just limps on it. Still runs and plays and jumps on everything. I am worried but also do not want to pay another $400 vet bill. Any experience with this? Thanks

See another vet, immediately. Get kitty's current health records and xrays faxed to the new vet so he can review them.
I assume your kitty is strictly indoors only?
Was the leg shaved to check for bites or punctures? (insect etc). Do you have any other pets in the home who could have bit or played too rough with him? Do you have children in the home?
Don't put this off, limping for three weeks, and continuing despite steroid use and pain medication indicates something could still be wrong and possibly worsening, see a new more experienced vet TODAY.
