another behavior question

Post by orangekitty »

My cat (I think from the stress of moving) has suddenly started wanting to eat constantly, and keeps me up half the night meowing and knocking things off my dresser. I cannot kick him out of my room because he will yowl and scratch at my door endlessly. What can I do to ease his stress and get things back to normal?

Play with him a lot during the day so he's too tired at night to bug you. Also, make sure he has a nice quiet safe spot where he can go during the day if things are too overwhelming for him.

If you know he is stressed, get him to your vet immediately for an exam.

Moviing/relocating is the number one extreme stress in cats, the stress can cause liver disease/failure quite rapidly. Although you said he was eating, that could change to anorexia rapidly and you need to keep a close eye on him, his weight, and his appetite. You also need to monitor his food intake because if he gains too much weight too fast due to stress, then that stress too can lead to illness, such as diabetes and liver failure.
