Ok...I'm getting a bit nervous here

Post by Tina B and crew »

Leaving for almost 4 months is definitely stepping out of my comfort zone. I've been doing my best to not show any anxiety about it when I'm around Willow but it is tough. I bought her a new toy today (yes, I feel guilty)...she definitely knows something is going on :? She's been a bit clingy but my DH says if she had her way she wouldn't let us leave for a day much less a few months! I am feeling a bit better about it considering she did just fine while boarding at the vets office.

Any suggestions on curbing separation anxiety? I'm leaving a worn T-shirt as well as sending a second (or third) one home while gone, I'm doing my best to stay calm, I'm encouraging bonding with DH (although I'm getting a little jealous here!)...any other suggestions would be great!

Tina, I think you have it down packed, and if you don't, re-read our other posts, LOL, just to remind yourself....that....everything will be ok, as much as can be. AT LEAST you have hubby there to take excellent care of her, that to me, would be the point I felt much better about it.

I know how you feel though, and I so wish I could offer you more, I know this isn't easy for you, I think I'd be about insane by now.

(((((HUGS)))))), I understand, really I do.

That would be so cool, and might help take your mind off, well, um, maybe not since you'll be photographing cats, LOL, but yes, post them as you go!

Try not to worry, Tina, I know this is hard, but you're probably right, she'll probably do better than you!

My vet is jealous...she wants to go to Greece to do a spay/neuter program for the cats there...I plan on sending her a lot of photos too. I'd love to organize a spay/neuter trip!

I'll bet your vet is frothing at the mouth! Yep, that would be the coolest ever, a spay/neuter event in a foreign country. (and vaccinations and health care and education and I could go on and on and on).

I'm packing today...leave tomorrow. If anyone wants to keep up with my adventure you can follow it at http://oceanchilde.travellerspoint.com/

I think Willow senses I'm a bit anxious and that I'm leaving. She's ignoring me right now. I'm trying not to be and talking to her in a normal voice telling her she's going to still love me when I come home  Of course it's a bit cool this morning and that could be why she's staying on her heated bed, not because she's ignoring me.

I'm sure your emotions are running high right now, but try to just keep telling yourself Willow will be just fine with hubby. (I know, easier said than done).

Thanks for providing your blog link, it will be fun keeping up with you, what a great idea! If you can, post notes on Willow as hubby informs you, K?

That's a good idea Traci, that way I will still feel connected with what's going on with Willow. We tried out the Skype the other day but will didn't seem to interested in seeing mommy on the computer...LOL Maybe when she hears my voice after I'm gone :D

That's what I was thinking, when you're not there, I'll bet she'll want to see and hear you on the pc, if nothing else, you'll be able to see her!

Be careful on your trip, but have fun too, and take lots of pics of the kitties and everything else, we'll be expecting to see them :P
