He is adjusting okay...wanting to play more...with me anyways....he still growls at hubby...the mean one who puts him in the crate!

This evening, we left ALL doors open and cats came and went at will, Tripod stayed in the bathroom, but the others were all curious...Cuddles of course was the bold one who went right in and proceeded to plop herself down on his bed with him....he did NOT want her there and growled and swatted at her, but she just shoved her butt closer and refused to move....hahaha....

Munkie was VERY put out that someone else was in HIS bathroom, and let us know it by doubling his size and growling all the way back down the hall....

Roo was all big eyed and curious....saw Tripod and gave a little hiss, but then went about rubbing his face all over everything in the bathroom....

I figure that tomorrow Tripod will come down here, like it or not, and hopefully do a bit more moving around with them...and then early evening I will take him back to his bathroom to rest...

His eye does not weep all the time...more in the evening...I wonder if after lots of activity, his body is tired...aching a bit...so maybe he is crying a bit?

No, cats' eyes don't water from tiring. I wouldn't let this go past another day, if there's a scratch or something, you wouldn't want it unchecked/untreated.

That may not be the cause. There's a condition known as crocodile tears in pets, it is technically called excessive lacrimation, although rare, sometimes it occurs because the nerves from the salivary gland (or taste receptor) interfere with the lacrimal reflex, producing tear overflow. We think Cinnamae has it, since she does this when she eats. Of course, I strongly encourage you to get this checked because it could also be a blocked tear duct, scratch on cornea, foreign body embedded, even herpesvirus, etc.

hhmmm...interesting......I hate the thought of taking him to the vet again...but if I have to I will...I will give it another day or two....his eye looks fine any other time...perfectly clear...he does not rub at it or blink alot or have watering any other time...it is not partially closed, no third eyelid peeking out....nothing that would give any other indication that anything was bothering it.....I have narrowed it down to when he is eating that food....

Could there be any significance in its being the LEFT eye? And/or some sensory connection in the nervous system causing the fragrance/taste of what he is swallowing to trigger involuntary reactions not usually present or noticeable? Like maybe that particular combination of food/water intake causes twinges - either phantom or actual - at the wound site, and these in turn cause the tearing... as when someone says a bumped elbow "brought tears to my eyes?"....

HUGE advancements....

Tripod is venturing out more and getting comfortable with the other cats....he is not coming into the main house yet, but the others are lounging about the hall, so that is fine...

BUT....just a few minutes ago, I let Ghost in to eat and spend some time...he is outside all day with the other dogs otherwise, but comes in to eat and spend time 1-on-1 with "his boy"...Well...his boy is out at a concert tonight so we let him in to eat....

I went up the stairs ahead of him because I forgot to close the bathroom door, where Tripod's food and water and litterbox are still kept....guess who met Ghost at the top of the stairs with a hiss and swat towards the face?!....yep...Tripod was staking out his territory....

I went to the bathroom and called Tripod to come in there and leave Ghost alone to eat HIS food in the downstairs hall...Ghost started to follow and Tripod turned and RAN full speed tail puffed out down the hall after him again....front foot swatting all the way....

Tripod and I got into the bathroom....we sat and calmed down.....he purrrred....rubbed his head....chirped and talked to me....but when I opened the door again....Ghost was in the hall...Tripod once again chased him to the end and down to the landing this time....

I did call Tripod back and sent him to the bathroom again and shut the door....I do not want Ghost to not feel he can be in the halls...his pillow is in the hall outside his boy's room and when he is in the house at night in winter, he is back and forth between both bedrooms....

But to see Tripod MOVE and show spunk like that is BIG improvements for him!!

Tripod has FINALLY decided that he wants to be a member of our household!! He has spent SOME time in here, but then runs back out.....the other cats have gone to visit him out in the entry hall and upstairs...so they DO know each other....it was just getting him to come in HERE....

Well, today was the day!!

He has spent ALL day in the main part of the house....and at some points during the day, Roo even went up to him and rolled over on his belly and reached a paw out to play :D Tripod just hissed at first, not sure about this "playing" bit...but soon afterward they were at least sniffing noses and not growing or hissing....

We ARE putting Sammie in his crate when we leave the house, because we don't quite trust HIM with Tripod....but the cats have been fine together....

When we left to go bowling....Tripod was happily eating out of one of the dishes of kibble in the kitchen :D

He has SEEN the water fountain, but I have yet to see him drink from it, so will keep an eye on him for hydration level and make sure he IS drinking....I may bring him into the hall tonight with a freshly changed litterbox and see what is in it tomorrow....

Well....Tripod is settling in with the pecking order and all...doing quite well if I do say so....AND.....he stuck his nose into the water fountain this evening....got his ear wet and taht was the end of that....so we put a bowl wiht water right next to the fountain for him...and he is FINALLY drinking plain water.....AT LAST.....

he has found the litterboxes and I have seen him in each of them, as well as at the food dishes....

and tongiht, for the first time, he joined me at the computer!!! :D Well, at first, he was on the buffet behind the computer desk...but then he got bold and brave and hopped on over....

oh oops....these first couple pics are him and Munkie from a couple of days ago
(please ignore the plate and bowl that my son had not picked up....and that I left for HIM to pick up  )

Here he is on the buffet...along with some kitty litter grit that came off someone's feet....

and then....the big moment!!
(please ignore the cereal bowl and cat food can in the background...I had a bowl of cereal earlier, and I feed Gypsy her canned food here at the desk so I can keep the others away, and I had not gotten up to take them to the kitchen yet....no Gypsy does NOT eat from the can, her dish was on the other side of the monitor!)
