Ok, thanks for the explaination, that makes sense. Come to think of it, the birdseed the birds drop in the yard grows, and it falls on a slate platform, so it ain't growing from soil!

You probably wonder how I ever passed biology, science, etc

Yeah, but it's like a constant refresher course! I still have trouble with math sometimes, but there's always tricks for that (like charts taped on the med cabinets, caluclators at every station, handy-dandy drug reference etc). You should see the vets try to calculate sometimes, why do you think they leave that to us

*SIGHS*

Majik has taken to PLAYING in the water....he STANDS in the basin and SPLASHES it all over....then it sort of creates a VACUUM or something and SUCKS ALL of the water out and ALL over the floor...leaving the pump to run DRY....thankfully it has not burned out yet...but my floor has been a constant WET mess....and I am getting REALLY REALLY TIRED OF IT ALL

I refilled it an HOUR ago and just had to do it AGAIN....the string MOP has become a PERMANENT FIXTURE in the dining room corner....

I ma NOT happy with him right now

I'd be really worried about that, since there's an elecrtical cord attached.

hubby said it won't damage since it is a magnetic motor pump...the first time it happened I thought sure it was dead and we took it all apart, the unit, not the pump it self...and he looked it up online...

...and even when it runs dry as far as running water through, there is still water sitting in reserve below.....it just does not have enough to flow UP and over the top any more.....

If I were to unplug it, there would still be water in the well part for them to drink, it would flow from the reserve at the back into the bowl up front, there just would not be the flow from the top...

I just wish I could figure out his SUDDEN fascination with doing this....I have a CONSTANT MESS of water everywhere now...

This is just a silly....I got a catalogue today from "Plow and Hearth," and they had some solar powered water fountains for the home and patio. I had just read your last post...and wondered, hmmm, I might be curious to see what pets do with them!

I think the concept is cool, but unfortunately, (so I've read), the solar-powered fountains just don't solar-up enough to actually be of real use or for any extended period of time. I don't think the costs justify that part, IMO.
