Pictures of Dylan and friends

Post by k9Karen »

We've decided on the name Dylan. DD still doesn't like it, but DH has decided it works.

I'm a pretty boy, aren't I?

OMG - what is it? Allie isn't too sure about him yet

Foxy drooling - Why does he get to eat and we don't?

Traci (or anyone). I tried to resize these on photobucket to smaller photos but they still posted the same size (only blurry because of the reduced number of pixels, so I went back to the originals). How can I get them to appear here as smaller images? - I know these can take a lot of time to load for some people if they are still on dial-up.

Actually, the pic size is perfect, when posting pics on forums (and in email), 640x480 pixels is fine, it doesn't compromise on details. Notice your kb's are only 29-32 kb so that's also a relatively fast loading file size (even for dialup). Also remember, if you have more than say 5 pics you want to share in a post, you can simply post two or three posts in succession to divide the number of pics/files sizes in one post.

I don't know how photobucket's resizing works, but if it doesn't do what you want it to, you can resize your images on your pc first, before uploading to photobucket. But, I wouldn't even bother.

Dylan is quite the love-bug, you must be so proud!!

I am most definitely proud. He is a wonderful pup and just as sweet as he could be. Full of energy, but not ridiculously so. He's curious about everything and is already just like all the other shelties I've had - has to be right with his 'flock' - if I leave the room and he doesn't see me go, he's looking for me. He's definitely smart. He already knows where his food is and asks for it when he's hungry.

I did resize the photos on my PC using the Microsoft resizing tool. That must have reduced the file size enough. They just seem large, but if this is OK, I won't worry about changing it - I'll just continue doing it that way.

He is indeed! It's hard to put him down (but I do!). Foxy is a beauty - she's very shy and oversized, but a very sweet, gentle and pretty Sheltie.

Just a tip, Karen, if you didn't already know, just set your camera to automatically take 640x480 pics, then that's how they will be downloaded onto your pc, then no need to resize (this also saves space on your pc if you don't regularly put them on disks). It is all the other settings, like light adjustment, flash, other adjustments that will affect file size of an individual pic. This is what I do when taking pics of the cats etc. For other pics like outdoors, night, plants, flowers, landscapes etc, you'd have to use other settings and maybe larger resolutions, but you can then resize them if necessary from your pc before uploading to the net.

Thanks for the tips. I have a large enough hard drive (320GB) that size really isn't an issue. I believe PhotoBucket will let me upload at 640x480. I'm still learning how that site works.

Welcome, Dylan! He's a dollbaby... Wonder if he will realize what a very lucky doggie he is, with two canine aunties as well as his human pack! Thanks for the pictures, Karen. I love Shelties - want one so much but can't have one here in the apartment, as my two cats are the limit (in more ways than one ) The Shelties I've seen here in the complex belong to owners in power chairs - perhaps this is coincidental, but the breed certainly is a good choice in that respect: able to walk alongside but small enough to ride comfortably on the lap.

I can certainly recommend shelties as pets. They have so much personality. Just make sure you have a very good vacuum cleaner (With 3, I have a Dyson Animal). Every sheltie I've had (total is now 6) has some of the same basic characteristics, but they have also been unique individuals. I think Dylan is going to be a talker like Mickey. He doesn't bark much, but he is very vocal when he wants something or things aren't going his way. I hope you're able to get one soon Dot - just as soon as you're back in NOLA!
