The ONLY food Izzy ever begs for (besides tuna, of course) is grapes. For the most part, when I'm eating, she shows little to no interest -- maybe a sniff if she's very interested, and then she wanders off.
But if I sit down with a bunch of grapes, holy cow, you'd think they were little balls of tuna! She goes NUTS. I don't know if she's intrigued by the color, or if she thinks they're a toy I'm going to throw, or if the smell is just that appetizing to her or what. But she won't leave me alone when I've got grapes. And of course no amount of explaining why she can't have them gets through to her!
It's like, geez, don't you know these are bad for you?? I'll throw one of her toys, but nope, she wants that grape. Weird little furface.

According to her, slvrwhispr, it IS a toy, it's shiny, it has a million little balls she could chase around the house, and since you're eating it, it is even more attractive to her. LOL!

I didn't think of the aspect that me having it makes her want it. You're on to something there, I'm sure!
I just laugh to myself when I'm sitting here telling this wide-eyed whisker-face that she can't have grapes because they're not healthy for her, and I don't want to clean up her nasty diarrhea, let alone have to take her to the vet, so I can't give her one, no, not even just one... while she looks at me all hopeful and excited, chirping back at me. We're quite a pair.

I love it when I can see the thought processes going through her mind.
"Maybe if I put my mouth on it, it'll be mine, and I can have it..." So she'll strain her neck and reeeeeeeeach... and touch it with her nose, then look at me like, "Is it mine now?"
Nope, still mine.

Pat won't leave me alone when I'm eating grapes, either. But he's not after the fruit. He thinks the stems look like tons of fun to play with. Especially when your almost done eating the grapes, so you've just got this big stem bouncing around. He won't leave me alone until I give him the stem, which the then bats around a bit and curls up with until I take it away. I don't let him keep it because I don't want him eating pieces of it, but he enjoys tossing it around for a bit.
