Hope this works. Only putting in one - it's my first attempt using Photobucket.
Our new baby is just precious. He doesn't have a name yet - I like to get to know them before I name them. I'm considering Dylan (or Dillon - the Irish spelling vs the Welsh). Can't decide and DH isn't too keen on it, so we're still trying to figure out who he is! I'm open to suggestions

Re: Baby picture
What a handsome fella! He looks so wise and friendly - makes one long to pet him. About the name: all I can tell you is my eldest grandson is named Dylan. At a US Army hospital in Germany, January of 1969, his parents thought they were being sooo unique The name has served him well. BTW: Before they heard the spelling, my folks thought it was "Dillon" and being "Gunsmoke" fans, teased by asking if he was going to be called Matt; then when they found it was Dylan, they of course thought it was for Dylan Thomas the Welsh poet... they had never heard of Bob Dylan lol. Be all this as it may, both names have solid roots in American culture and a Sheltie with either name would be just fine with me!
PS: The picture is very good! More please!

He is sooooo cute ! Wish I could hug him. Hope you post a lot of pictures.
Re names- not for your pup, but... we once had a dog named Muttley which I thought was a cute name for a mutt. (I guess there was a cartoon character named that.)
You are right to take you time to get to know him before you give him a name that fits his personality.

I don't want to take away from your joy on a new puppy Karen, but why would a breeder allow a pup to go to a new home at only 8 weeks? 12 weeks is the standard and is the safest.
He is adorable, and I can see how proud you are!

I think 8 weeks is standard for her. She had an exceptional litter - 5 show prospects out of 6 in the litter (mine was one - she chose 2 others to keep). She did say because it was so hard to determine, next time it would be 10 weeks. I don't know why she lets them go at 8 weeks, but the only reason I've ever heard for keeping them longer is to decide on which one(s) to keep. I'm taking a 2 week vacation to take care of him and he's doing wonderfully. No crying at night and eating well.
