First some good pic of my pups.
The first pic of Pea Pod and Bernie needs no explanation.

While Bernie and Pea Pod continued to play, Apache washed Mr. Dawg's face with her tongue!

Now on to the other stuff. We have had a VERY BUSY week with 5 animal 911 calls in two nights, plus the usual spurious 911 calls to pick up strays at 03:00 A.M.
Here is a call we went on for a "Severely Injured" Dog. The dog had a small scratch on its leg and hopefully will soon be going to a rescue group
<img src="http://a4.cpimg.com/image/EC/DE/2065636 ... 00182-.jpg">
Others weren't so good. We got an injured cat call. The Kitten had sliced her foot on something and it was badly infected. She is in Kitty heaven. A young Pit had a bad bite on her back leg. Unfortunately it too was infected and she is in Doggy Heaven. Another was a bite case. A child saw a rat terrier and ran away. The terrier of course gave chase and grabed the boy by the buttucks. The buttucks were bruised, but the skin was not broken. I don't think the owners will have the money to redeem the poor fellow. In another incident a dog was in a car that was involved in an accident. Fortunately, a relative arrived and took the scared dog into his custody so it did not have to go to the shelter. On a better note we had several dogs taken in by rescues. This morning I took a Bloodhound to rescue who was way past his time at the shelter. I apologise in advance for the bad photographs. They were not taken under the best conditions. The Bloodhound spent most of the trip looking back at where we had been.

But he did spend some time in the front seat looking at where we were going.

Not that he could see much with the weather. I took this one just before it got real bad.

Later this afternoon, we took a Golden Retriever to Golden Retriever Rescue.
<img src="http://a5.cpimg.com/image/7F/DA/2065625 ... 00182-.jpg">
I was a Passenger for a change and was able to take some pictures of scenary on the way. Unfortunately, the driver insisted on not stopping. She was more concerned with arriving on time and intact than in good pictures. Most of the pictures I took are undecipherable blurs but a few came out good enough to see something. This is a picture of a power line clearing in the swamp.

Here we are coming onto the Luling Destrehan Bridge. (Can you say a bridge from nowhere to nowhere?) IMHO It is a pretty bridge though.

Here are two pictures of The River from the Bridge.

Here is what is on the other side of the river --- Sugar Cane Fields! (The side we came from has Swamp. You take your pick as to which is better.)

It was pouring down rain when we met GR Rescue so I got no pictures then. (People have a strange aversion to standing in pouring rain with lightning and thunder so you can take a picture.)
On the way home I took a picture of the Bonnie Carre Spillway. This is one of the places I used to take the dogs for runs, before I got too many. It is about a mile or two from HM's House.
<img src="http://a1.cpimg.com/image/71/DA/2065624 ... 00182-.jpg">
While we were on our delivery it stormed at home and the streets were still flooded.
<img src="http://a0.cpimg.com/image/B6/DC/2065631 ... 00182-.jpg">
This is what makes some people angry about vehicles going through flooded streets. In this case no one got mad because all of the homes are at least 4 foot above the street and no cars were parked where it was flooded. We were not going fast, but would have gone even slower had there been any cars or homes in danger from our wake.

Last but not least is our obligatory picture containing Ivory. You can even see the lower half of the tree in this pic too. You can see our yard was still flooded from the rain also. The bad news is that the rains will be back again tomorrow, just as strong. Depending on which weather caster you listen to, we had either 2-3 inches of rain or 3-4 inches of rain.

Remind me never to complain about Michigan rain again!...
Wow, those pics of the flooding from the rain are pretty spooky! I'm sorry for the cat and dog that went to the Bridge, but that Bloodhound is gorgeous! I'm glad it got into rescue. Figures I'd like the hound, doesn't it
Re: Long message with lots of pics. .....
I LUV the first one with PP sticking tounge out at Bernie! What a hoot!
Re: Long message with lots of pics. .....
Excellent set of pics - thanks! I got to ride over the Luling-Destrahan just a few weeks ago... twice... (son does not seem to like to go over the Huey P - odd for a guy who is an airplane pilot and who interrupted grad school a couple times to drive 18 wheelers coast to coast...) His son was visiting from up North and we went down to La Fourche Parish, were going to Houma but ended up in Grand Isle - which I had never seen. Great trip... I hate it that it's all endangered according to various news reports... What we gone did? And it's still raining... so it is good to see the doggies and hear about the ongoing rescue work.

Great pics as usual. Sorry to hear about the 2 that couldn't be saved, but you're doing a great job trying to save as many as you can. I'm sure glad our rain is back to normal - I hate it when it's a mess like what you have now. Hope you dry out soon!
