How long can you store a stool sample?

I know you should bring in the freshest sample, but if you have to wait, how long can it be kept in the refrigerator?

Ideally, no longer than 8 hours. (12 hours at the most)

If you need to, simply call your vet and ask the techs if you can just drop off a sample real quick, then request they call you with results. (you may need to pre-pay when you drop off the sample)

but if you frigerate it, it can last for day...freezing it will last for months if you are only checking for parasite...
