Her fecal test was negative for organisms and she is bleeding from her butt...so I will just have to pray and wait till the vet visit tomorrow. The bleeding is not profuse, just a little, but enough.
PS- It stopped now..so seems to be a dribble/drizzle of blood after a movement. Movements seems soft, not hard, but not diarrhea. Has anyone ever heard of kitty hemorrhoids?

Other than that she is acting her goofy, fun self....playing, purring, asking for affection.

Well I have to go to the big city to take care of my own health today. Tomorrow is Angel to her doc.

She could have impacted or infected anal glands, but the secretion is easily distinguishable from normal fecal material (it has a very foul smell). If the vet determines she has impacted anal glands, you will need to evaluate her diet and consider changing it to one that is more appropriate for her.

This is a reach but the catnip I give her (Cosmic Catnip) seems to have a lot of woody sharp stems (I just noticed). She eats it so maybe that caused the bleeding.

Sometimes cosmic cat nip does contain some pretty large stems, so sift it first before giving it to her, that's what I do, no way am I going to let my cats eat some of those stems, they are like straw!

I am not buying Cosmic Catnip again. I just spent a half hour digging out a thorn that left a painful splinter in my hand from the catnip. I sifted it then tried to break it up with my fingers and found 2 more...like a small rose bush thorn. Maybe catnip doesn't have thorns, but they were in there. Some of the pieces of stalk are very sharp and tough. I have seen catnip which has a finer texture.

My poor little baby might have a stick up her butt literally and she doesn't even have a cattitude. 8)

Traci- I wrote down things you said, esp about the impacted glands and all to take with me...just to compare with what they say. I will not quote you directly. It's just good to go with that knowledge of what it might be so I can ask questions. I appreciate the help.

Any time, that's what we're here for!

What I do with cosmic catnip, is shake the canister up and down several times, this either does one or two things. It either brings all the stems and larger pieces to the top where I can pick them out, or it puts the larger pieces at the bottom and I can just take a pinch or two to use for the cats. I always double-check before I give it to them, and that's why I just do a pinch at a time, you can actually see it that way!

Cosmic catnip is my favorite, or should I say, my cats' favorite, been using it for years and won't use anything else. But remember, you can always get catnip-filled toys too, if you feel those are safer.

Traci, you were totally right...diet was the main thing. They think she has colitis or IBS caused by Fancy Feast, etc or the catnip twigs. They gave me meds and special food. Will post the name of the med later...her and I are worn out and going to take a cuddle nap. She was great at the vet.

medicine is: Metronidazole ( for 5 days) and Hills Prescription Diet z/d

I really liked the vet..new ones at my old place, but this one was great - she took time and explained everything...very thorough.

I thought you said she didn't have diarrhea....metronidazole is sometimes prescribed for diarrhea or bacterial that causes diarrhea, didn't the vet say the fecal was negative?

Can you contact the shelter or rescue you adopted Angel from and ask them if they know if she has a history of IBD or dietary sensitivities.
