Hello . I have a 5 year old cat. His name is cookie and we got him when he was a kittin at a farm. So he was oviously a outside cat. We are remodling our basement. We already knew he sometimes peed on the carpet, but when we pulled the capet up there was lots of pee stains.
We started giving him two litter boxes. One in the normal spot and one by the spot he peed at most. We thought it worked and it did but not totally.
I don't want to give him away because I'm REALLY atattched. But we don't want him peeing on the new carpet. Help would be greatly apreciated.
P.S. He is an indoor cat now.

Peeing Cat... HELP!!!
Re: Peeing Cat... HELP!!!
check out the search page of this board for very similar posts to yours. urinary disorders are not typically behavioral in nature but instead a sign that your cat needs medical attention.
schedule and appt with a local vet asap and let us know.

Agreed. You may have a kitty with a medical problem. (and highly curable, at that)

yep...this is the most common subject on this board I do believe...have him checked for UTI first...if that isn't the case then we can help you with behavior modification

It could be more than a UTI, though. Don't stop there. My Y.Lee (RB) did the peeing on the carpet thing just prior to his diagnosis with Diabetes.
Re: Peeing Cat... HELP!!!
When we adopted Buddy he peed all over our carpet. He had a UTI, so I'd get a good vet check to rule out any medical conditions first. If that's not the case, you can try putting a litterbox in the place where he is peeing, and then slowly move it day by day to the desirable place. It took 3 months to get Buddy's medical condition and peeing problems fixed, and of course if you're going to pee in a room you might as well do it in the dining room so that the first thing people smell when they walk in is cat pee, LOL! Having a litter box in our dining room wasn't fun, but that was what got Buddy litter trained again. After that, we ripped out the carpet and put down tile, best money we ever spent with all our critters.
