Cat food and litter opinions

I am 'thinking' of adopting a cat. If I do...can ppl give me their opinions on the best cat food (dry food) and litter.
(I know that I would have to transition the cat if the food is different, etc)

For dry food, my cats have a choice and basically eat (not overeat though) both ... Science Diet for Hairball & Purina Naturals. I recommended the Purina Naturals to a friend whose 3 cats took to it immediately.

As far as litter ... ughh, good luck. After 8 years, the only one I've tolerated is Tidy Cats scoopable for small spaces.

Ohhhh, as I'm typing this and about to show the Tidy Cats litter, I see there's a new system by them called Breeze. Must investigate ..... hmmm, looks like it's the same concept as the Fresh Step crystals system with the urine pad seperate. One urine pad can last one cat one week. Not sure how it would work for multi-cat households. Shoot, we never get anything good!

Science Diet Adult, and Indoor Formula (Iams Kitten for kittens). Same litter as Cleo.

I tried the Science Diet for Adult Indoor Formula and NOT ONE of my crew took to it. Weirdos!

I saw that new litterbox with the urine pads and wondered how many times a day I would need to change it and it paper towels would work!!

For litter, we use Sam's Club MembersMark, and when I had a litterbox in the bathroom upstairs, I used Arm & Hammer Flushable...

I actually just got done switching my crew from Purina Indoor Only to Purina 7+...Munkie is the only one younger than 7, but he eats it...and since I have switched them over, I do not have near as much upchucked food and hairballs...actually, no hairballs since we finished the switch...

Tambrey, Munkie really should be on an adult food, not senior food....senior food (is supposed to) have slightly less protein, less fat etc but a healthy young cat less than 7 or so should have an adult maintenance food.

Mine eat the Purina Naturals as Cleo has posted (see pic) for the dry and a combo of Purina's Friskies in can and 9 lives in can for wet. I have 6 inside that eat this. The outside cats get Purina's Kit n Kaboodle. No complaints from anyone.

For the litter I use ShopRite's unscented clay. As long as the boxes are changed regularly, no complaints.

I thought about that as well, Traci....but how would I feed him separately than the others to make sure he got that additional proteins that he needs?

If there was an easy way to do it, I surely would...and since I freefeed all the time, I could not separate him just for that feeding....hhmmmmm

{No comments from the balcony}: feed him on the counter, at least twice a day if you can. When you put out fresh food for the others, put a new bowl of adult maintenance for Munkie on the counter, the others should be more interested in their own when you just put it down. If you don't want a cat on the counter, designate a room nearby just for Munkie's feeding and watch until he's done.

Some of your cats at 7 years of age or slightly older can still eat adult maintenance, providing they are otherwise healthy and active. Overweight cats, underweight cats, cats with medical conditions requiring a different food, etc should always have their own food and own feeding schedule.

I feed Chicken Soup to the dogs so when I got the
cat I bought it for him, too. If they ever start selling Wysong
at my food source I will buy it, love that stuff!






I was using Feline Pine litter but then I discovered
they use the same type of pellet for horse stalls
and it's only $5 a 40 lb. bag.
Very satisfied with that!
