Carnival Puppers

Post by E's »

The Krewe of Barkus "rolled" again this year, a few days before Mardi Gras. Kin of mine and their doggies attended. Hope the clip will still play - it is long, but keeps pausing [pawsing?] - just wait a couple seconds and/or click and it will resume. :D

That looks like it was a lot of fun! Sure looked like a lot of Bassetts, doxies, and chihuahuas - couple of bulldogs too. Only saw one sheltie - Bummer! I didn't have any problem at all with the video - no pawses or anything.

Me too. That was a "What WERE they thinking" moment.

Yeah, the lavender doggie upset me also... What kind of hair dye was used, I wonder? Hope it could be washed out of the fur right away. Anyhow, I'll bet its owner got told off more than once that day: the Krewe of Barkus puts on a good show at Carnival Time, but is a serious group the rest of the year, doing a lot for rescue, adoption and other humane projects. The "King" this Mardi Gras was found in an abandoned house just recently, 2 years after Katrina...

There is a dog groomer in Macon who always dyes her poodle pink for the Cherry Blossom Festival. There is a dog-safe dye, and it's more common than you may think. I have also heard of people using Kool Aid for dye.

Purple Kool Aid stains everything else, why not a poodle? Whatever they used, I wonder how long it'll take to come out, if ever? I don't think I'd want to live with a purple poodle - that's the stuff of nightmares!

That was cute!! I didn't feel any worse for the dyed doggie than I did all the doggies in costumes though, some of them looked thoroughly embarrassed

The video was cute and I too wasn't thrilled with the "purple haze", but still the video had alot of cute pups in it!
