I spoke with my brother this evening and I just found out that my nephew's Warmeirner (sp) did not make it through her emergency surgery a couple of days ago
She went in a few days ago because she was suddenly a bit lethargic and not eating well....temp was a bit up, blood count a bit off, so vet gave her antibiotics....they had her back the next day, worse, she had eaten and thrown it back up again and was just not her usual all over the place wiggly self...
The vet wanted to keep her there and observe for the day, do x-rays and see what was going on....nephew wondered if she could have eaten something...possibility to look into....but before they could even do anything, she took a sudden turn for the worse, again, so the vet opted to do an emergency surgery right then....
From the way my brother described it to me, the vet said her intestine had grown back on itself, stuck together and had become severely infected and had ruptured inside, and she died during surgery....
He said it is a rare thing to see, and it is fast and hard to detect...
I guess this would be likened to a ruptured appendix in humans as far as how fast it happened?
Regardless....Cleo can run free from any pain she may have felt near the end of her short (less than a year) life....
And also prayers for Tut...her left behind brother, I am sure he is totally lost since they were inseparable....and my nephew and fiancee, who are getting married February 29...I am sure they had plans for Cleo and Tut to be a part of the wedding...

So sorry about Cleopatra. My heart goes out to her family. And to the surviving pup. Weimaraners [I'm not sure of the spelling either] are such great dogs; with love and attention, Tut will be okay in time, but it is sad about the upcoming wedding.
Re: Run Free Cleopatra
Thank you Traci and E's....I am sure my nephew was devastated, as was his fiancee...these dogs are their babies right now....Tut was more his and Cleo hers, but still in all....they were a family...

How devastating! I'm so sorry.

I'm so sorry. Losing a beloved pet is never easy and it hurts so much. I wish your brother and his family all the best.

My deepest condolences. ...
Re: Run Free Cleopatra
Thank you....I talked to my soon-to-be-niece at her wedding shower and she said that Tut is doing okay....he was lost and confused for a few days, and they considered adopting another dog, but now he has settled in and they are going to just let him be an only...for now...
