Our cat Nola, a 16 years young female, seems to have an itchy ear. About 2 weeks ago, we had her teeth cleaned and as long as she was sedated we asked our vet to take a look at her ears. He said they were a little dirty and cleaned them out. She seems to be scratching less, but one ear still seems to be bothering her. We talked to the vet yesterday, and he put her on Animax ointment twice a day. He asked if she had any equilibrium problems and she doesn't. I guess I'm looking for any thoughts or suggestions as to what the problem might be. Thanks again for all your help

Itchy Ear question
Re: Itchy Ear question
As long as they were clean after the procedure....chances are she simply has a mild bacterial infection, in which the meds should help clear it up. If they don't, ask instead for maybe tresaderm (to be used only once or twice a week)...the tresaderm may reduce inflammation that may be causing the itching.
A bacterial infection can resist simply due to her scratching. Make sure her rear claws are not too sharp or unusually dirty (like litterbox residue)
