This is an investment I may very well make! I was just asking my sister, who is a chemical engineer, to come up with something similiar to a port-o-potty outhouse for humans with biodegradable gel safe for cats. Looks like someone already had the idea.

Holy Smokes! Has anyone heard of Cat Genie?
Re: Holy Smokes! Has anyone heard of Cat Genie?
hhmmm....interesting.....I am just thinking....if it uses 1/2 pack per cat per month for the sanitizing solution....and the cost would be $6.24 per cat, if you get the 12 pack...for me...it would cost $62.40 a month for the sanitizing solution
AARRGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....but it sure would save time on litterbox scooping!!!!

Same here Tambrey. With the amount of cats I have, the cost of supplies would be the same as the amount of litter I currently buy.
It got mixed reviews on Amazon. Smaller pieces of waste get stuck and when the unit dries itself, people said their home smelled like baked cat poop. One woman with 6 cats said she was doing a complete clean of it once a week; whereas the manufacturer recommends a complete clean twice a year.

I would do alot more researching and find reputable comment reviews on this.
One thing that that you may not realize, they're not just making money on your initial purchase, but moreso on the followup purchases of the granules and "sanisolution" (which other than proprietary ingredients, contain "natural perfume oils", and you know the dangers of "natural oils")
If it clogs, you're wasting solution and granules. If the cats use it several times a day, double or triple the loss. Don't know about the cleaning cycle, but it could also add to your water bill (probably not much on electric bill).
Did you see the SIZE of this thing?
For multicat homes, I doubt this would be a good investment. It states on their website it is recommended for 3 cats total, any more would require another unit or even more. Of course because if you have 10 cats using this on a daily basis, and it only cycles once a day, then it's going to be useless, and you're going to have to scoop it yourself before the cycle. (adding to more waste of the granules)
JMHO. While I like the concept, I'm sure there's lots of room for improvement.
