We recently got two study chairs which Mythie has been spending a lot of time on. Since our last vet visit and the steroid shot i have covered them both with a thick towel and she now sleeps on those during the day and the licking/twitching/grooming seems to have stopped or be back to normal.
I am not sure if the two were related at all.....
We found poop on the rug again this morning.
Here are some of the things that i am thinking could be
1- Last night Zooey did a trick that she hasn't done for almost 4 years so i was quite pleased with her... As i was falling asleep i heard Mythie and Zooey having a bit of a chase which is quite normal only i think Zooey sometimes doesn't realise how much bigger than Mythie she is... Then Zooey decided she would go to sleep with me on my right by my leg. Mythies bed is by head but also on the right. The first time Mythie did the poop on the bed, Bobbie was asleep in the same spot!! Could she be being possesive about me??????
2- The bowl was also empty this morning. Could it be possible that she is doing it because she was annoyed that she was hungry?
3- Could she be trying to tell us that she wants to go outside??? My old apartment had a grill at the front door so that she could look out without going out.... We don't have one at the new place...
????

The other thing i just realised is that when she does use the litter box she leaves the litter box in a huge hurry.
What are you feeding her? Are her stools hard, soft, or normal? Does she have normal stool each day? Does she strain in the litterbox? Any signs of blood or mucous in the stool? Does she ever get stool stuck on her fur near her rear end? Does she ever try to "wipe" and scoot across the floor after using the litterbox?
One of the concerns is that you said the itching/licking thing has been going on for about 6-8 months. And, no resolve. So, I think you need to re-address this with your vet, or, a new vet.

Hi Traci...We took Mythie to a new vet on Saturday and he did a full examination of her. He didn't find any fleas but he did recommend that we do a flea treatment and a worming anyway. so we did the flea treatment and that seems to have stopped the itching twitching and over grooming. We also did the other two.... The vet seems to think the pooping outside the box is behavioural due to all the changes in her environment lately.... I am perplexed. (my enter key is not working) Her stools are hard. They look normal, the only abnormal thing is that sometimes she has a bit of grass in between pieces.... She has one paw up when she goes. No sign of blood or mucous. She used to scoot but has not scooted for almost a year... She doesn't get stool on her fur but occasionally she gets really frantic because the last piece doesn't fully disengage... Today i noticed that the first bit of the stool is sort of bent... almost forming an L shape.... ?????????? is that odd???

I'm assuming the stool is softer now? It should not be hard.

Actually when Zooey got on the renal diet the vet said that it wouldnt be problem if they were all on it since they are all around the same age... so Mythie is on the renal food too... The stool is not softer. It still looks hard.
Ugggh, your vet is INCORRECT!
You CANNOT feed a renal specific diet to all your cats in the home! This diet is restricted protein, which means those otherwise healthy cats will not get their proper protein formulation/requirements. Age has nothing to do with this particular situation, least of all feeding them all a renal diet because they are the same age. Renal disease usually develops in cats older than 6 or 7, sometimes not until much later. You don't even know if Zooey has renal disease at this point, because apparently the lab results show something different every time you check them.
Mythie's stool problems could very well be due to the trauma she suffered several years ago. It is common in cats with trauma such as hers to have urinary or defecation issues later on in life, mostly due to inflammation, scar tissue, etc. It could also be combined with stress, as you've indicated, but you need a qualifed vet who will take all that into consideration and come to a more defined diagnosis. Also, he should be testing her specifically, testing the stools, and approaching a diet more suitable for her, example, fiber oriented, or a hypoallergenic diet that is going to aid in proper elimination.

So i should transition them back to regular food? As for Zoey.... I am not sure what to do about the test results. The first one was a very high creatinine with a fairly normal BUN... the second test a week or so later and she was down to 1.5 and then today she is 1.3..... For Mythie... I guess that would mean that i should go back to her first vet because they know exactly what happened.... It's quite hard to explain to anyone who didn't see what happened how serious it was....

You can get a copy of Mythie's records from the first vet, and give a copy to the new vet. Or, they can call and talk to each other.
My concern is this new vet telling you all the cats can be on a prescription renal diet, when they should NOT be on it absense of clinical testing and confirmation of renal disease.
What is the prescription diet anyway, name, type and brand please?
