Emergency trip to the vet today

Woke up to a cat crying in distress today, and Riley was laying up against the ratty boys cage, trying to lick himself. I was sure he was plugged up, which he was. The vet was there in 20 minutes. She was getting ready to sedate him when I left, put a catheter in, and possibly some subq fluids. He'll be there until at least tomorrow. Good thoughts for Mr. Riley, aka Captain Pinknose would be appreciated!

Oh no, your poor cat. I hope his pain is relieved and he gets better soon. I found the only thing helping my cats with FLUTD was feeding them canned Hill's c/d only.

I'm going to ask about a special diet when I pick him up tomorrow. I had a male cat several years ago who never got completely plugged, but did have recurring UTI's, and the special diet cleared that up nicely.

I would like to ask what you mean by the DOGS peanut butter jar though? I do hope you do not feed PB at all to doggy.

I have a 14 1/2 year old lab mix with congestive heart failure, and she takes her meds (enalapril and furosemide) twice a day in a glob of peanut butter.

All my dogs line up for a tidbit of PB at med time, have been for years.

Do you have a dog allergic to PB or something? I guess I don't understand your seeming concern that my dogs get bits of PB.

No I have no dog allergic, but I was concerned when you said my dogs jar of PB. A bit of it is fine for meds but I have known some people to actually use this in the dogs food and since PB is not dogfood it concerns me when I hear people say they give it. Tidbits for meds are fine in my opinion , actually funny that you get a conga line from your buddies waitin for thier share. ROFL Just making sure you werent one of those few that used it as a source of their regular dogfood.

Thanks for clarifying that! No, I don't add it to their regular kibble!

They do get add-ins with their kibble most of the time, but it's stuff like salmon, sardines, scrambled eggs, etc. None of those are a replacement for kibble, but are good for them and they think they eat at a buffet every day with that mixed in

JMO, but I wouldn't exactly say those things are good for them, at least not on a consistent basis. The fish stuff particularly. The eggs are high in protein and if you're feeding a good kibble already properly balanced, the addition of eggs in the diet could lead to excessive high protein content, which could be detrimental to kidney and liver health.

And of course, don't feed this stuff to the cats.
