Have you ever had a UTI?...Every dribble of urine feels like you are trying to pass a boulder...a sharp jagged boulder...

Have you ever heard someone talk of how painful it is to pass a kidney stone?

cats are very good at hiding their pain...it is a survival instinct....only the fittest survive and if they show weakness or pain, they are likely to be left to die...or attacked by their pack....
By the time they are showing signs and symptoms of anything, they have been suffering in silence for quite a long time by then...

That is why everyone was so upset for the waiting...it is causing more pain and stress for the cat...finances and personal life aside...when we bring animals into our homes...our lives...they depend on us for EVERYTHING...they depend on us to take care of their needs and end their pain...and they tell us the only way they know how...in this case....going in the bathtub....by the time she was showing you this...she was already in pain....

This is why so many are adamant and upset about it....look at it this way...if she were your child...would you have waited or would you have done whatever possible to get her seen by a doctor?

What is the difference....human or critter....we all feel the same and deserve the same respect and care and treatment....

Hopefully after she is on proper medication and diet, she will improve and feel better...but you may need to work on retraining for litterbox use...she will probably associate the box with pain...

get a new...different...box and different litter...if you used clay, switch to scoopable, or visa versa....
I actually use a storage tote that I use a hot knife and cut an entry hole on one end, high enough to hold litter yet still low enough for the cat to walk into easily enough....

I sought advice after I was already out of town. I couldn't very well haul all my family back home to take her to the vet. I've never had a UTI or kidney stones, but I do have gallstones, which require surgery, which I can't afford and it's a pain that I have to live with until I either get insurance, or a stone blocks my liver and requires emergency surgery. As for my child, well, if my child was sick, I would wait to see if it was serious, if it was, I would look up what I could online so that I at least have a basic idea of what's wrong, so that I have the right questions to ask the doctor. Unless of course my child had a fever high enough to cause brain damage, had a broken bone, or was bleeding all over the place. Also, my child is covered by OHP. I don't accept any other welfare, but I do make sure she's covered medically in case of an emergency. Know of anything like that that covers pets?

So wait you still havent taken kitty to hospital yet? I understand that you have money problems I really do we have all been there. But there are dr's out there who will make arrangements with payment. I thought you had taken kitty to hospital and was wondering what the outcome was.

lots of people use Carecredit...it is not welfare or a handout...it is a loan if needed for emergencies...human or animal....

just look at the links on the right and find what kind of care you need, your area and it will give you a list of places that accept it....

I already posted that I'd taken her to the vet. You must have missed it. I said that she was recieving treatment and will be fine. Turns out that she hadn't had a UTI as long as I thought, and just likes using the bathtub as a litterbox.

dealing with grandma problems so fussy brain this week, i must have missed it. Good thing it is being taken are care of. carecredit is good. Maybe you can use it to help with your gallstones dear((((celt)))) I know you dont want welfare and i surely commend you on that one but make sure you stay healthy for your family and furfamily. Let us know how everything works out with meds on uti and how kitty is doing.

WOW...I missed that one as well....what did the vet put her on and did he prescribe a special diet for her while she recovers?

The reason everyone was insistent with you here is because you posted that your dad left this untreated as well long before you even had her, and then you got online to find out what things you could do, was told only a VET could determine for certain...we advised based on information you gave in your first post. ALL of which were red flags to us that your kitty needed help, not last month, not last week, but immediately, not a second later. We explained in great detail WHY we felt she should have been seen immediately.

YOU have the choice to make decisions about your health. But, unfortunately, your CAT is soley dependent upon YOU to make sound, quick and proper decisions for HER health because she can't speak for herself. That's why we're here, so we can speak for the pets needing help! Don't deny her needed, timely and appropriate help because YOU think it can wait. If she could tell you, she would have asked you take her to the vet much much sooner than when you decided to get online looking for information that again, only a VET can determine through an exam, etc.

So when you were out of town, was anyone with kitty at home? If not, she was left all alone? If a UTI, she was suffering, alone!

That's the entire point, when your cat is ill, don't waste time on the net looking for advice for free...get kitty to a vet, and immediately. She deserves better.

So, what did the vet have to say? What is the cause of the blood in the urine and the sediment? No crystals? No inflammation? Or what? Was she prescribed antibiotics or proper diet to address pH level and/or crystals? What tests were done, exactly?
