The little girl is a bit more friendly now and is a girlie cat. When I got home last night, she was really enjoying the back scratcher,, even came out from behind the toilet to really get into it. She even plopped herself right on my foot (made me melt!) A couple of times I was even able to pet her with my hand!!!! Other times no. But she is definitely coming around...and is definitely a night person. From about 2:30 on she cried and cried and cried and hammered at the door. Needless to say, this am I'm beat. I think she may have been sending a message out to someone in morse code...series of wails and short cries like ---..-.---..---.--...-, LOL! I'd say she may be a good 5 months and possibly in heat which could explain her plopping at my feet and wailing all night.
What was cute was this morning when I was in the shower. She kept a vigil at the tub and wailed the entire time I was in there. I peered out occasionally and she looked concerned about what was going on in there. Could it be she was concerned about me???? When I got out she stopped the wailing and went back behind the toilet. She has been eating well. I determined it's a she because when she came out to be petted I didn't see any luggage on the caboose.

Maybe she can be turned, we'll see, but at least she's eating and has been using the box.
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

It could be simply that she wants attention. Or, food. You might also want to get her to the vet and dewormed as she might have worms that would make her ravenous.

Traci, she may or may not have worms, but she is eating well, not ravenous....just eating well. I want to give her a few more days to settle, then I'll call the rescue group that works with me to make the appointment. I'm trying to not traumatize her as much as possible, especially since she'll be recuperating at home. Then I decide if she can be turned into a housecat or if she should go back outside. I really do need to trap more as there will soon be more kittens out there.
Once she's at the vets she'll be advantaged, dewormed, spayed and tested. She really is cute and if I can socialize her I'll rest easy knowing she's off the street, but she doesn't have alot of time to get with the program with all the others outside that need "tending". I hate to sound like a tough guy about it but if I don't fix them all soon (and apparently no one else will), then there'll be even more out there to feel guilty over.
I'd love to know who the @#$% dumped them all in our neighborhood...if I ever do find out, they too will be neutered, even if I have to do it myself. Maybe that's why no one "knows anything about it."
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

Yeah, I know. Most likely she's just wanting attention or just alittle stressed.

Here's wishing you luck with the others too, keep telling yourself you're making a difference, because you ARE.

My little kitty (now maned Missy) is turning into a little love bug!!!!! She now lets me pet her with just my hands and even comes out from behind the toilet to let me. This morning she managed to escape the bathroom, but I was able to catch her and carry her back to the bathroom without scruffing or getting clawed. She did hiss at me but got over that quickly and was headbutting me for more petting. I had her on my lap briefly, but she wasn't crazy about that idea and got off. First time, I didn't want to force the issue. She even came out and ate when I fed her, so she's not as afraid of me as she was. I may be able to turn her after all. She seems like she could be very sweet in time. And she wasn't up all night wailing or hammering at the door....she did it just for a very short spurt....either that or I was just so dead to the world from the previous two nights I never heard her, LOL! And she also makes the cutest noises like that of a pidgeon cooing!!!
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

I'm sorry you got stuck with cleaning up someone else's mess :? You sound like us at the shelter, we want to neuter and spay LOTS of humans!

But you are doing a fantastic job! It takes a very special person to do this, I am in awe 8)

Cindy, I couldn't do it without the help of the rescue group that has been working with me. Meanwhile, Missy is doing great. She's still a bit apprehensive with me and her surroundings but she does love being petted. I can even hold her for short spells. Not all like enjoy being held, but at least she only wiggles a little when she has had enough and not scream and claw to get down. She does seem to enjoy the cuddle for about a minute....makes me melt especially when she starts purring. I saw her siblings this morning and the minute they saw me they booked. I wish they would be at least curious and linger, but they scram real fast upon seeing "humans" (run! save yourselves!!!!)
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

I was once told to not even bother with a litter of kittens that i found as they were considered TOO old to ever be house pets.
:?

Turned out that all 4 of them made good house pets.... :D
