Please keep your cats indoors this Halloween!

Post by paschat »

Ladies, if your cats are not already indoors only, then PLEASE, PLEASE keep them indoors for this week during Halloween. There are sick freaks out there who do terrible things to animals this time of year.

Thank you for this reminder. Please also note that ALL cats and ALL animals can be used and taken during this time of year. It is not just black cats.

I hate to have to mention this BUT I feel the need. Also please know that if you are in a dark place or an alley way that you frequent and see an injured animal please take a look around BEFORE You go up to it. THere are some persons that use injured animals in order to mug people or hurt them.

Have a safe Holiday.

Thanks for the reminder.....we do have ferals around and they stick close to the house..usually...they have a place to sleep out along the side of the house...thankfully our black cat DOES stay over there....we do have some grays that venture up towards the highway....

I just pray that our sleepy little town will be left alone!!

I also know that the shelters around here will NOT adopt out cats, especially black cats, during October...if you want a particular cat, they will hold it and you can come visit until after Halloween...

I should have said this yesterday but forgot. White cats are at risk too. So please make sure that around this time they are also kept inside as well. These 3 hollidays will be over soon so just keep an eye out.

Holidays I mean are Halloween, All Saints day(today) and All Souls Day (tomorrow). White is for purity and some rituals call for it thus the white cats. Please just keep them all inside.

While this is something that I've always felt has much more basis in myth than in fact (I've never really seen any evidence of massive satan worshipping cults all over the country constantly slaughtering cats), I still think it's a good idea. I'd rather be paranoid than sorry. :P

You may not hear about it or see evidence, but it happens. Cults of all kinds are out there, hidden, in secrecy, and ANY animal is at risk.

It definitely happens, and not necessarily having anything to do with "cults" - whatever that term means in our polarized culture these days. In the instances I knew of or heard about it was just plain cruel anger using old superstition as an excuse.

One time years ago a very dark tortoiseshell stray had her kittens in the storage room of next door neighbors. We agreed I would fix a place for the cats on my patio; the mama cat seemed to understand and moved her litter to this shelter; I later took the litter indoors... but the mama thought of the house next door as her place and she would stay on the front steps or lounge on their sidewalk. These people then sold the house to another nice couple... the husband had been born and raised in our pleasant, very normal, suburb. The morning after that first Halloween the new owners were there, the man met me out front to show me the black cat had been shot to death...

I've been around a long time, in a lot of different parts of the Country, have worked in opinion research which is based upon behavioral science... I was convinced from the start the new neighbor (whose profession required him to carry a gun) did it himself, but family and other neighbors said Oh no, it was some trick-or-treater from another neighborhood  However, the couple divorced and sold the house not long afterward and it turned out the husband had some emotional problems... then I was told I may have been right about the cat...

my 1st job out of high school was a vets office. I was just 17 going on 18, I was there for only 2 years...I saw way to much, enough for me to say yes to INDOORS ONLY. The thought makes me ill and makes me want to cry. And yes it happens throughout not only on Halloween/All Saints day and All Souls DAy. It happens way to much and no you will not hear of it on tv or see it being done. But yes it is done and it is brutal.

Hugs to all animals
