Feeding
Re: Feeding
i don't think you will ever find one food that all cats love..our cat will go maybe two to four days and then decide she wants something else..right nos she is on peopls sardines...that has been three days, will probably change tomorrow...dried food is there all the time and i think she has eaten about thre of them in the last weekk--that is three little pieces...course when you get to be 19 i guess your allowed to be fussy, i even give her a pred shot about once a moth to keep her appetite up--oh yea she will eat chicken from the table with no problem...but a universal dry food that all cats like???i doubt it.
Re: Feeding
What were the four foods, what brands? And how often are you switching their diet?

Re: Feeding
My cats are not all that picky and they eat what I give them (which is Hill's c/d dry).....BUT......I do know that a favorite of a great many cats (and mine LOVE it as well, for a treat) is Science Diet Oral Care. For some reason it is irresistable to cats. Have you tried this one?
Re: Feeding
Thank you all for your responces.
I mix all 4 dry cat foods(Im weird I know). mix Nuto natural choice(expensive), Nutro lite, a hairball formula and then I mix a little either wiskas or meow mix, I have a four year old female who is overweight,so that is why the lite and a 9 month old VERY active male, they are inside cats,(the 4 year old does not like the little one at all) and I introduced them the way you are supposed to, but then she does not like anyone but my husband and I.
Thank you again for the responses, I am so happy I found this site, you are all so informed.

Re: Feeding
I haven't heard too many great things about Nutro,....and lite food really is not sufficient for proper weight control. I would suggest talking to your vet about a veterinary prescribed and monitored weight plan for your 4-yr-old female. As for the 9-month-old, he needs a good quality adult maintenance right now, so mixing light with the hairball food and adding whiska's is not truly the ideal diet, for any of them really. I would suggest asking your vet about a recommended adult maintenance that can be used for all except your 4-yr-old, in which she may have to be fed seperately in order to achieve her weight management goal.
Just a precaution, if she is truly overweight, ask your vet to perform full bloodwork on her before initiating any type of weight reduction plan/diet. You can only expect her to lose no more than 1 lb in about a 2-3 month time-frame, in order for it to be safe and effective. Rapid or progressive weight loss in cats is dangerous and can lead to severe liver failure as well as diabetes.

Re: Feeding
Mainly unfresh bags and cats unable to tolerate it (vomiting and diarrhea). It's not one I would ever recommend.
If it works for your cats, Cleo, don't change anything about it. But, if ever they develop obvious problems on it, you can probably pinpoint why.

Surprised about the Nutro!
I'm surprised about the Nutro. My cats do very well on it. The Nutro Natural that is complete really seems to cut down on their hairballs. They also like the new pouches. I also never had problems with the food not being fresh. Their stools are fine too. They also did do very well on SD too (they looked very good) but did have more problems with hairballs.
